I am SICK and TIred of people making fun of how I do things on this board. I
have not posted here for a while becuase of it. The measurements that I have
taken are correct and they are in inches. If you do not think that they are
correct to bad. Everyone else has congradulated me on my lose thus far there
are still a few that seem to take it upon them selfs not only to make fun of
myself but others that are new to this. And for your information I have
taken shooe and I do know how to measure, if you don't like what you see
then don't read it. And also if you are going to post something or have a
conversation about a person then please do not post it where they will read
it and  where everyone else will see it.
I was not going to say anything but I am tired of always being put down for
my efforts. If there is any problem with this post them too bad. I will
continue to post here and I will not let you push me away.
Other boards have no problems reading or understanding what I am trying
to say when I post.
keep your comments to yourself if you have nothing nice to say. I thought
this was a low carb board. you people sorry some of you people make me sick.

I take offense to this comment, I teach special education. And my mentally
retarded students would never spell or use so much incorrect word usage than
this person does.

This isn't a board, it's a newsgroup.  It's not moderated and anyone is
free to say anything they want about anyone they want.  Everyone is also
free to use their killfile function in their newsgroup to filter out posts
of anyone they choose.  Angie, I'm sorry hon, but you need to have a sense
of humor about yourself.  It IS funny that you misspelled your own name,
and I remember in one post you said you started out with your waist at 95
inches.  That's almost 8 feet around. At 135 pounds, which you said was
your starting weight, that's simply not possible.  It's so impossible that
it's funny.  It's just as funny as if someone came in here and said they
were 1 foot tall and weighed 900 pounds.

You are funny, woman. I have this picture in my head of a little 1 foot
tall 900 pound man/woman (and who could tell which it was?) with an 8
foot waist trying to struggle up onto the chair to reach the keyboard.

known around the school as "piano legs" Hannum. heh.

Angela -- I'm offering this advice as a kindness.

Use a spell checker. Look over your posts before you hit "send" for
typos. You misspell YOUR OWN NAME in your headers ("Anglea
Woollcombe"), for God's sake.

You don't have to be the greatest writer in the world, but this *is* a
written medium. It may seem unfair that you're chastised for your
sloppy writing, but you come off as borderline illiterate half the
time. I can't believe that, if that was the case, you'd be able to use
a computer at all. So I'm left to believe that you just don't give a
damn about proper spelling or punctuation.

Trust me -- if you act like you care and clean up your writing, people
will be a lot nicer. It may seem harsh, but that's Usenet.

Speaking of which, this isn't a "board." It's a Usenet newsgroup.
That's another of those mistakes that make people think you;re none
too bright.

Good luck,
Dawn

They are not correct. And if it's so hard for you to admit that I really
don't see where there's any point in you asking for advice and support from
this newsgroup since I doubt you really want it. What you want is for
someone to pat you on the hand and say it's ok for you to keep eating donuts
at work, just start fresh tomorrow.

> Everyone else has
> congradulated me on my lose thus far there are still a few that seem
> to take it upon them selfs not only to make fun of myself but others

Then you should go where you feel more comfortable. No one here is going to
congratulate you on losing a couple of pounds while you still continue to
eat donuts and pastries and bagels every night. You are not new to this.
You've been claiming to be on a low carb diet off and on for at least 3
months now.

New people are not made fun of here. They are given low carb advice. If they
turn around and start complaining about that advice, making excuses why they
can't do it, or how we're all so mean because we tell it like it is then
they obviously aren't here for low carb diet support.

> And for your information I have taken shooe and
> I do know how to measure, if you don't like what you see then don't
> read it.

But then you take everyone to task for not paying attention to you.

For what it's worth you did make a mistake in your measurements. No one who
weighs 135 has an 85 inch waist. At my highest weight of 265 I measured 46.5
inches and I'm only 4' 11" tall. Now either you had typos in your post or
you measured wrong. No one is critisizing you for the mistake. But standing
by it when it's so obviously wrong makes you look ridiculous. There's
nothing wrong with admitting you made a mistake. That's part of acting like
an adult.

> And also if you are going to post something or have a
> conversation about a person then please do not post it where they

You should take your own advice. "if you don't like what you see then don't
read it."

> I was not going to say anything but I am tired of always being put

> bad. I will continue to post here and I will not let you push me away.
>    Other boards have no problems reading or understanding what I am
> trying to say when I post.

That's not true. I've seen many people on alt.support.diet ask you to use a
spell checker and stop using text messaging shorthand because your posts are
hard to read and understand.

> keep your comments to yourself if you have nothing nice to say. I
> thought this was a low carb board. you people sorry some of you
> people make me sick. Angie

Then start low carbing for real. No one here is going to pat your hand and
say it's ok to screw up your diet night after night. And if you think that's
mean then you really should find a newsgroup or board where your junk food,
donut, bagel, and pastry diet does fit in.

That is fantastic Angie.  I stopped in Timmies today to get a tea and
the smell of the donuts etc was overpowering. It is hard not to
indulge while in there.  I didn't but I could not imagine working
there, having to smell it all day (esp when they are baking) and not
being able to eat it.

Good for you girl!!  :-)

Angie, those measurements you posted are impossible.  Do you still have any
of the clothes you used to wear at the start of your diet?  Measure the
waist of a pair of the pants you wore then.  I guarantee you they are not
95 inches around.

>Everyone else has congradulated me on my lose thus far there

This reminds me of a M*A*S*H episode in which Frank Burns whines "I don't
have to take this abuse!"  And Hawkeye replies, "Yes, you do.  You invite
abuse.  It would be impolite not to accept it."

Then please, please change the spelling of your name in your newsreader
settings.   I'm not normally one to harp on typos on grammar errors, but I
cringe every time I see the misspelling "Anglea".   It's VERY hard to take
anyone seriously who can't even spell her own name.

Someone probably told her she'd have to format and reinstall to fix her
name.

She just posted in the low-calorie group that she is in her first week
of Atkins, so she obviously has as much difficulty measuring time as
she does measuring her waist.

Okay. Slowly. Do you see the difference between these words:
Angela
Anglea
?

You do realise that in the end of the name, the letters should be
e-l-a, not
l-e-a ?

The first is your name. The second one is what your header says your
name is.

Uhm, Angie, I'm beginning to wonder if someone else is using your
account? That might explain some of the inconsistencies. You said you
hadn't posted here for "a while", but my server shows at least 12 posts
from you in the past week. Perhaps that is the same person who changed
your name to "Anglea" ? (Don't you see, that's what people find funny,
that you apparently have misspelled your own name).

I agree with the others, though. You are your own worst enemy when it
comes to trying to get people to read your posts and take them
seriously. Person after person on this newsgroup (note, not a "board")
has told you how extremely difficult it has been to read your posts. I
do appreciate that you have started to use some occasional punctuation,
though. But your spelling is so bad that it makes the entire post
difficult to read. I'm still trying to figure out what "shooe" is...
shoe? But what would a shoe have to do with measurements? Perhaps it's
some sort of slang.

And sorry, but I have to agree with the others. Something is strange
about your "measurements", at least the original ones you posted. Just
as I'm struggling to believe your other post where you said "I have also
lost 64 inches since Jan 6." Is that in addition to the the other
questionable inches you lost before that?

I know you want to believe that people are against you, but in general
they aren't (you'll always find a troll somewhere who is; goes with the
territory). People would like to see you succeed and would like to help
you, but it's difficult when 1)you write in a manner that makes it
difficult for people to read 2)you don't like what you read and 3)you
become defensive if anyone asks a question.

I've been on and off of this newsgroup for years, ever since it started,
and have always found lots of help and support here. But you have to
bear in mind that it's not a "board", and there aren't any hall monitors
here who are going to enforce how you want it run.

From context, I think she meant shop, but the thought of her handling

what would be the point in us asking you anything?  you just get
defensive and then you make even less sense than you usually do.
Lee B. - 18 Jan 2004 16:36 GMT
OK, then ...

1. Is your name AngLEA or AngELA ? Because you've spelled it both ways
(see quote below), which is what people keep trying to tell you. No one
has ever questioned the use of "Angie" as a nickname.

2. Was your starting waist size 95"? EIGHT feet?! That definitely gives
new meaning to someone being wider than they are tall.

3. And most importantly, what does "taken shooe" mean ?

Angela/Anglea - I think you need to invest a little more time in
actually reading what people are saying. It appears that you don't, that
you immediately jump up and down shouting that everyone is mean to you
before you even understand what they are saying. You've had several
tantrums about the spelling of your name, and never once seemed to grasp
that the name that shows up on all of your posts (in the "header") is
spelled differently than what you sign at the end. This is the type of
behavior I'd expect to see in a teenager who's always had their own way
and always been told how wonderful they are. According to you, you're
past that stage (although since this is Usenet you could be a 12 year
old pretending to be an adult, which come to think of it would explain a
lot). There are a lot of people here who are willing to congratulate you
if you accomplish something, but you won't be getting any slaps on the
back (somewhere else, maybe <G>) for eating yet another pastry at work.

By the way, we all make typos and most of us make "hearing mistakes" as
one of my deaf friends used to call them (writing their instead of there
- something a deaf person wouldn't do). Most of us find our own and
others' typos amusing, but find it strange for someone to defend their
mistakes so adamantly. And we also try to keep them to a minimum by at
least re-reading the post before we hit send. This is a written medium
and no one can see your expression or body language or hear what word
you think you are spelling, so if it isn't clear in your writing, then
people are going to misunderstand it.

But, you know, why should everyone else have to take their time to ask
you repeatedly what you mean. You are the one who wants the response so
you should be the one making sure that you get your message across
clearly. I suspect that if you keep it up, then the people with the most
knowledge will stop trying to read your posts and the only replies
you'll get will be from people with less experience than you.

Maybe you are measuring in too many places...I suppose if you measured in 64
different places you could have lost 64 inches.

I'm not going to be the first to point this out but there is no way
the first set is in inches. I believe you were looking at the reverse
of a tape measure which is in CENTIMETERS. 95 centimeters around your
waist would equal 37.5 inches. So, from November to January, your
waist went from 37.5 to 35 inches. Seems more possible eh? Come on...
95 inches? There's just no way your waist could have been that large.
Rather than bluster about how we are just attacking you, realize you
made a mistake. (And unfortunately posted it publicly and then got mad
when people tried to point it out.)

As far as keeping our comments to ourselves, hey, this is Usenet. It's
not a moderated forum for the emotionally fragile. Get used to being
judged solely on your posts, because that's the medium.

You know what they say... If you can't take the heat, stay out of the

Angela, click on Tools, Accounts and highlight your news server account.
Click on the Properties button and you will see your Name there.  Change it
from Anglea to Angela and people will no longer talk about it being spelled
wrong.

Do you by some change suffer from dyslexia?  You seem not to see some of the
errors you make in typing.  When you posted your measurements some of the
numbers were clearly inconsistent.  This is from your post on 1/7/04:

here are my measurements tell me if i figured this out right please

before
 hips  85 inches
 chest  81 inches
 waist 95 inches
upper arms  27 inches both arms
  thighs 51 inches noth thighs

after
 hips 36 inches
chest 35 inches
thighs 50 both sides
arms both 10 inches
waist  35 inches

Now, I started out at 292 pounds, my bust was 52 inches, waist 48 and hips
56.  So I figure for you to be 81-95-85 you would have to weigh something
over 400 pounds.  These figures are out of synch, too, as you have your
waist larger than you bust and hips, that just is not likely to happen
unless you are pregnant.  Either you measured wrong, or you wrote them down
wrong.
