Hi All,
I've posted several messages in regards to my scale not budging (5.5#'s
in ~3 months). Several of you suggested that I had my carbs too low at
an average of 14 grams daily (and only 1 cheat, 1 piece of lasagna, on
Christmas)
So ... my question is today I ate plenty of veggies and I thought I'd
run today's menu by you guyz to see what you think!
Breakfast
3 scrambled eggs with 1/2 T butter added
Lunch at my desk
Several stalks of celery, radishes (5?), 1/2 green pepper, and 1 small
zucchini all sparingly dipped in full fat Maries Blue Cheese Dressing.
Also had 5 pieces of Buddig Chicken and 1 ounce of muenster.
Dinner
Big red leaf salad with chicken breast with feta and Maries Blue Cheese
again
Is that too many veggies?
Man you guyz, this is really getting depressing. I can't seem to lose
and I am exercising twice a day!
PS. What kind of fun veggies would go good in SF Jell-O?

What are you doing with your exercise routine.
What is your age, and are you able to increase your intensity and shorten it
from twice a day to once a day?
The reason i ask is because in general, you want to increase your cardio
respiratory/vascular system, elevate it if you will. Sustain the exercise
for thirty minutes, and get your heart rate into your "exercise zone" which
is dependant on your age, and you will start to burn fat stores.
This what comes to mind when i read your post.

Ideally I like to walk/run outside for ~ 3 miles. Lately it's too dark
before and after work, so I do walk aerobics for ~40 minutes each
session (before and after work)

I'm 44, and done with TOM since '90 (surgically). There's not enough
time in the evening to do both sessions nor can I get up any earlier to
do more exercises and function at work!;)

How many calories are you eating per day?

Today, I don't know. But previously, per fitday, I was averaging 1400
cals and 16 carbs.

If you are 160, then you aren't eating enough calories.
There are two different calculations you can do, one is basic and one is
complex.
here is the basic one:
160x10 = 1600 calories per day basal metabolic rate.
take that and multiply by 1.5 for a semi active person
1600x1.5 = 2400
Anyhow, I take in about 1800-2000 calories a day. I should have about 2110 a
day, so I create the deficit, and I lose fat because of this.
But if I were to go down to 1600 like you are, then what would happen?
My body would slow down to compensate for the fact it is getting only 1600
calories, and I would start to burn more protein and lean muscle if I were
to work out like I do.
So consider sort of bumping up your caloric intake, while still working out.
Watch you aren't overdoing protein, and that you are getting enough fiber,
as well as vitanutrients and macronutrients in what you eat.
Hope this somewhat vague post helps.

I don't think it's too many veggies. How many calories are you eating? I'm
thinking if you're seriously exercising twice a day every day you may not be
eating enough food. It's difficult to tell without actual numbers though.

I don't think it's too many vegetables, but I don't think you're eating enough
in general.
When your caloric intake is cut so low for so long, you may go into "starvation
mode" and your metabolism slows to compensate.
You might try eating a bit more for a while and see what happens.

Hey guyz,
Thanks for all your help!! :) As of right now it doesn't look like I'll
be bailing on the LC thing at the end of the month afterall! I got on
the scale this morning and was down another pound! That's a 2 pound
loss in one week! A new record for me!! :) The trick was to eat more
veggie carbs! Who would have thought (not me I mean) to eat more, to
lose more! I ended up having a bunch of cashews for a snack last nite,
so my calories were not as low as they appeared to be. Also, in regards
to exercising. I don't want to come across that I exercise every single
day twice daily. I go in spurts. I try to do it twice daily, indoors.
If I get to go outside, I will walk/run only once that day. Heck,
there's been some Monday's that I completely skip exercising;)
Thanks kidz!
