OK so I made it through the holidays and did well. I've upped my
mostly daily exercise from 1.5 miles to 3 miles.

I've been stuck at 175 since Nov 11, 2003!!

Several years ago I was doing Atkins and got stuck at 175 then too. Is
this my barrier? HOW can I get past this point?

Fitday shows my "healthy" weight below my goal of 165 si IS this a
magic number or am I where I'm supposed to be?

Oh yes also went a week without exercise due to a kidney stone attack!
OUCH!!

Suggestions and/or encouragement appreciated.

Walt

I'm not an expert, but you need to carefully examine what you're eating,
as well as your excerise routine.  Have you counted those carbs? Do you
follow the meal plans to the letter etc.  Do you eat things not on the
list etc.  Are there any meds you are taking, or other doctor related
conditions in your health?

You might want to add some weight training. It will build muscle which uses
more calories to maintain. Also if you aren't watching your calories now is
the time to start.

Walter,

Have you had someone check your body fat percentage?  Without knowing how
much of your current body weight is muscle, it's impossible to know whether
or not you are really at a healthy weight for yourself. If you've been
working out it's quite possible you are just where you need to be and
fighting your body might not be the way to go.

Rough generalizations, like the BMI, only go so far.

I have stopped losing since summer, but when I compared my body fat
percentage now with the measurement in May, it turned out I'd lost at least
4% of my bodyfat, though my weight remains the same. I have been working out
consistently so that would make sense, but my body will absolutely not drop
any more weight no matter what I do.  Since I'm more than 5 lbs below my
original weight goal, that's fine with me, but it could be disturbing if I
didn't realize I was carrying a lot more muscle than at this time last year
when I was still sedentary.

P.S. Sorry to hear about the kidney stone and hope it has resolved.
Accupuncture can work miricles for stones I've seen it work when people were
told nothing but surgery was left.

Examine your calorie and carb levels.  You may be either too high or too low
in respect to what you started at.  Perhaps try increasing your carbs by 5g
a day, for a week, see if you can kickstart things.
