Hi All,

This is my first posting here. I am starting my second week of low carb
and want to drop about 50 or so pounds; just thought I might post some good
low carb stuff I found at SAMS club. We bought some pizza pockets that have
9G per piece, they are really great for lunch or a small dinner. They also
have 11G pizza pies, but I didnt get those yet, will try those in a few
weeks since I have trying to keep below 10G per meal.

I am on the Protein Power plan which is a little more liberal with carbs
than Atkins, but thus far working out great. Also bought some CarbSmart ice
cream today which has 4G per serving.

Excuse me if this has been posted before, but just thought I would share.

Take care!

Jim

Who makes the pizza pockets, and what do they contain?  I used to
like those.  Thanks.

My concern, too.  I never find commercial prepared stuff without hydrogenated
fats in them.

It is made by a company called Michael Angelos Gourmet Foods. Here is some
of what is on the back of the box:

"We have formulated a special focaccia wrap that meets the needs of todays
busy lifestyle with convenience, great taste and 9 grams of total carbs. Our
crispy, Italian-style pepperoni Wrap is made with only the finest Quality
ingriedients. We wrap premium freshly sliced pepperoni along with ricotta
and mozerella cheeses inside our delicious, freshly made focaccia dough and
top it off with imported Reggiano Parmesan cheese".

Nutrition Facts:

Serving Size: 1 unit

Calories  310
Total Fat  16g
Saturated Fat 6g
Cholesterol  35mg
Sodium  780mg
Total Carbohydrate  9g
Dietary Fiber 2g
Sugars 1g
Protein 33g

Along with other vitamins. Anyways, as I said before it is really good and
comes out great in the oven, 10 minutes. Makes a great lunch or even a nice
dinner with a small salad.

Regards,
Jim

Hey, I used to really like their frozen lasagna and eggplant in pre-LC
days.  And as I recall, they were made with nice, unobjectionable
ingredients (no partially hydrogenated anything, etc.).  I'll have to check
these out.  Thanks.

I missed the original response, so thanks for supplying some of
the background, em.  Those do sound interesting!

I find the best thing at Sam's Club is the meat.  Good steaks for a pretty
good price.  I bought some nice strip steaks and a good sirlion tip roast
last time I was there.  Mmm, now that is real food.  Not hot pocket here.
:)

Their lox (smoked salmon) is really good too, at least at my location.  I
also get frozen oriental stir-fry there, can't remember the brand but it's
the kind in the black bag. Comes with sauce packets but I throw them out.
Sometimes you can also get really good deals there on lobster tails, yum!!!

I have only 3 flaws.  My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

Does Sam's Club still sell low carb cheesecake?  I was in one a few days ago
and didn't see it; I was in too much of a hurry that day to ask.

Thanks -

I have no idea, I've never looked for it.  I'm not a big cheesecake eater.
Now, chocolate cake with chocolate chips and chocolate icing and chocolate
sprinkles, if they have a low-carb version of that with no SA's I might
have to try it.
