This is "bottom posting;" i.e., posting your response at the bottom of the
post you are answering. Top posting is when you put your response at the
top.
Don't sweat the small stuff. Despite some minor friendly bickering, you'll
find most people here to be helpful and tolerant, especially to Newbies.
Welcome to ASDLC and good luck, FAB!

Top posting is what I do. When someone's reply is at the top of their
message, ABOVE the text from the original post. I use Outlook Express,
which defaults to top posting (I have no idea if you can change it). Bottom
posting is when it's at the end of the quoted text from the original post.
There are plenty of arguments for both methods - all of which is included in
multiple threads over the couple of years I've been reading here - google
them if you really want to be bored brainless! LOL.
You post however you want to, if people don't like it, tough for them.

Hi Tara,
I'm not trying to change your posting preference. But this URL is to a
download site for free plug-in shareware that adds some awsome features to
Outlook Express. Among them is an option to default your signature to the
bottom of your post.
There are other really, really cool and helpful features even if you're not
interested in that. Check it out!

I use it but I still prefer top posting and I never use a signature, my nom
is in the From line. Top posting just makes more sense. I scroll down to
read things but what everyone should focus on more than top or bottom
posting is snipping. It is particularly irritating to have to scroll down
through six or more consecutive posts to get to the comment added by the

Although I'm a bottom-poster (does this sound kinky?), I agree with you
100%. It's irritating to have to read through paragraphs and paragraphs of
old posts to get to the current response. And uses a lot of unecessary
bandwidth. Everyone should circumcise those old posts that they're
responding to!

its very tiring to read though the signatures, old replies, etc. I just hit
the down curser to read a discussion and top posting works or clean up your
posting like this one, We are supposed to be getting more active not less

deleting everything so that no one knows who or what you're replying to
is even worse than top posting.

No. Not like this one. You provide no part of the previous
post. While your comments do stand on their own here, who knows
whom you are responding to?

Well said Tara. I post on top sometimes and on bottom sometimes. If the
message I am replying to is really long I always post on top so people don't
have to scroll down. If people don't like it tough!

my vote is obvious :)

starting another stupid f.cking thread about it is FAR more annoying
than actually doing it.

Hi Fabuluss,
Love the upbeat moniker! Welcome to the group. Do not be scared to ask
about anything, barring a few, most are terrifically helful,
understanding, and mostly kind. Ask away, Fabuluss!
