As part of my low carb diet breakfasts I am supposed to have 1/2 cup of bran
with 1/2 a cup of blueberries with Soya milk ...tasted pretty good . Because
my tracker program went through the roof today (55 carbs after lunch ) I got
suspicious and decided to check what I had been eating ....POST 100% BRAN is
NOT 100% bran ...it has 30 carbs per 1/2 a cup !!!! I'm trying to keep to 45
a day !!
Also I haven't ketosis yet ...I guess that's why :(
I'll strengthen my resolve , review my food choices and carry on .Being new
isn't easy there is much to learn ..
Oh ...and BTW Marengo I sent WTVR an e-mail too...that was down right
irresponsible.

From a previous post, I recall that you are starting out with the Atkins For Life
book. I think that is geared toward people who are on maintenance. You should
probably get the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book and start out from the
beginning with induction (20 carbs per day for two weeks, then add 5 more carbs
for a week and keep doing so until you stop losing, then back down some). Some
people DO lose right away on 45 carbs per day, of course. I think you'll learn
more about this WOE and how you respond to various foods and carb levels by
starting out at the beginning of Atkins, rather than the end.

you might want to review your choices *before* you eat them.

Are you doing Atkins? If so, you shouldn't be eating bran or fruit during
induction. If not, try Kellogg's All-Bran Extra Fiber (not the original). It
has 13g fiber and 7g net carbs per serving.

Saffire ...I've lost 15 -18 pounds(depends on time of day I weigh myself)
since I started on Jan 12 /04 I don't have ADR book. I didn't start on
induction so I guess that means I'm not on Atkins. I do how ever use Atkins
for life as an easy way to plan meals and keep my Carbs low ...it stops me
from getting hungry while I consume the less then 1000 calories a day (that
is part of the menu plan that Atkins has laid out ) My doctor suggested 1200
a day but I find this is working just fine.I'm sorry if people here thought
(From a misguided question ) I was on induction...I didn't know better ..I
thought 45 carbs a day was Induction . Anyway I'm going to carry on the way
I've been going and if that doesn't suit you guys I can look elsewhere for
support.

I wasn't slamming you -- I thought I WAS offering support. You seemed bummed out
that you hadn't hit ketosis yet and I suggested a way to do it that would also
help you learn more about how you respond to various foods. And you DID say you
had a lot to learn.

If you give misguided information and ask misguided questions then don't be
surprised or upset if you get misguided support. We can't read your mind.
All anyone here has to base advice on is what you write.

Warp,
Although there's probably more detailed info in the Atkins book(s), there's
a *lot* of info on the Atkins website:
