Hi,
I'm a newbie here.
Please tell me on what kind of scale you were weighed on at over 300 lbs.
Most household scales go to 299.
I'm finding it very frustrating that I don't know my true weight.
Thanks for any info. Brand names of household scales would be very helpful.
Peace. Tavligal

My friend gave meone. Its brand new but I am over 350 so am patiently
waiting to use it. I have never been a slave to the scale but it is a
pain to run to the doctors office to weigh. When I was 414 I couldnt
weigh at the doc's. Get this.... I had to weigh out doors down at the
fish loading dock by crawling onto a giant platform scale. Speaking of
scales.... I'm hoping to continue "scaling" down. It will be nice to
step on a tiny scale LOL

With Tanita it will definitely depend on the model. Mine only goes to
300, so my husband can't yet weigh on it. He uses the scale at the
gym.

Someone here once suggested just buying two regular scales and standing
with one foot on each one, and adding up the two weights.

I was doing this and found it very frustrating. I wish I hadn't wasted
money buying a second scale.
I just bought a Tanita HD-351. Max weight 440 lbs, in 0.2 increments.
Nice large Digital readout. Memorizes 5 different users. Always
displays previous weigh-in each time. $74.95
http://www.scalesgalore.com/pbath.htm
It is the second one on the page and the cheapest on the site for the
over 330 lb crowd. This place had the best price w/shipping figured
in. It was also closer to me (NY) and came quickly. They are out of
stock till 1/28 though.

Thanks for your post DV. I checked out the link, but I'm Canadian so I
googled for a few canadian sites and found one! I ordered a scale similar
to yours which goes to 440lbs.
Thanks for your info.

PS. I tried your stuffed mushroom recipe and they were delicious!

I started out at 386, according to the scales at GNC. My wife checked
her weight on the scales at her work (she works in a hospital) and the
scales at my GNC were accurate. That is an option. I usually check
once a week.

I just went to the Doctor's office weekly. I didn't have to check in
or anything. I just walked back to the scale & weighed myself. That
was 6 months ago. Now I can weigh myself on any ole scale. WOO HOO!

I just bought a new scale last weekend that you might want to
consider.
Linens&Things/BedBathBeyond has started carrying WeightWatchers
branded scales and they all go up to ***380***, and they are more
accurate than most home scales, down to .1 pounds they say, and they
also have little graphs when you use them that tell you to lean
left, right, forward, back to center your weight before it does its final
calculations to increase accuracy.
They are reasonably priced as well, about the same as other scales
eg.. $30-60.
They are apparently new because I looked a few months ago there and
they did not have anything like that.

Used the digital scale at GNC and the doctors scale until I got down to
330. Then I bought a 25 buck digital doodad that went to 330 and have
been using it ever since.

Malt can be made low carb through the judicious use of yeast.

Hehe coming from someone who was over 400 pounds !! its tough ESPECIALLY
when you do not REALIZE the scale does not go that high.
I use the scale at the local VET (right around the corner) unbeknownst to me
it STOPS at 365
so for months I thought I was "stalled" when in fact I was much higher than
365 and quickly approaching 365.
if you have ANY doubt it is EASY to test.
Step on the scale. then have someone else place a foot on the scale. if it
does not go "up" then you have maxed it out.
you can not just "jump" on it since people like us tend to destroy things we
jump on and many digital scales ignore spikes like that.
Sharper Image has a scale that goes to 350 pounds for $99 which I will be
buying soon since I am only 1 pound away from 350 :-)
that is the HIGHEST I have found for a home scale. then again I have not
really looked hard.
their is a "stop gap" solution that I literally just thought of RIGHT NOW
while typing this !! gonna have to try it tommorrow !!! cool.
buy TWO scales. (digital) place side by side. One foot on each scale.
add the two numbers together. problem solved. this should work quite well as
this is how we weigh "airplanes"
scale under each wheel etc.. as long as the mass under each wheel does not
exceed the max of the scale you can just add the numbers together. so 160
and 160 would make you 320 etc..
Cool I am going to have to try that !!

Oh yeah the doo dad thing. I forgot about the weigh in at the docotrs
office on a scale that went to 350 only. My docotr used the weight of
his key hanging from the scale keys as "X" in some mathematical
computation to get a round about weight on me and I believe that was
the time I weighed in at 409 pounds a whopping ( NOT!) 5lb loss from
the prior weight at the fish plant. He added weight to the scale
somehow to compute my weight. How embarrassing was that????
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My scale goes up to 350. It is a Health-O-Meter, professional edition. It
looks like a normal (extra sturdy/nicer quality) step-on-it scale with the
needle that spins around and points. I don't know what it cost, it was a
gift.

Heartland has them for $30. Their website is www.heartlandamerica.com , I
have the same scale and I spotted it in their last catalog
