Hello,
For some reason my bellsouth account is being obnoxious and my posts
aren't showing up.  Just wanted to point out "Kisha Rudden" is
actually Kevin Gowen.

Take care,

I don't speak Japanese, and my daughter is in bed already so I can't
ask her what "Kisha" means in one of the Japanese dialects.  Kevin
will know.  ;-)

Not bad, huh?  Look more carefully, and sample enough posts to find
the proof.  You'll kick yourself if/when you see it.

Your headers are showing.  Anyone who has been around here for a while
knows I'm not half bad at this game.  Doppelgangers are my specialty.

Your first mistake was overplaying the part - "You go girl"?  Better

Of course my headers are showing. Compare my headers to hers. Let's see
your proof that you claim is there for anyone to see if they sample
enough posts.

<G>  Then you'd know what you did wrong though, wouldn't you?  One
critical point you need to know here.  I do not require that anyone
here believe what I say.  It's enough that I know it to be true, and
for me it's enjoyable to be able to spot the Doppelgangers.  The
broadcast of such knowledge is for those who might find the
information useful.

I imagine, if I were being a "doppelganger". Stop testing me.

This is not a sentence, so I do not know what you are trying to say.

You contradict yourself. Simple syllogisms show how:

Carmen broadcasts such knowledge for those who might find it useful
Carmen does not broadcast the knowledge to me
Therefore, I would not find the information useful
QED

Next:
The information would be useful to a "doppelganger"
I would not find the information useful
Therefore, I am not a "doppleganger"
QED

Nope.
Carmen broadcasts the knowledge "Kevin Gowen = Kisha Rudden".
Your first assumption (that the "knowledge" in question was my method
of obtaining the information was what I was referring to) was
incorrect, causing all after to also be incorrect.
People may find that knowledge useful.
Carmen does not broadcast her methodology, though you could be a much
less detectable Doppelganger with that knowledge.  You can figure it
out if you try.

"Do not wear" denotes the current time frame.  The statement as made

As opposed to what timeframe? The Edo period? Sorry, but my statement

How is it a wordgame? In my experience, people on usenet whinge about
"wordgames" only when they have been semantically sloppy. Scrabble is a
wordgame; this is not.

Right; a maiko is an apprentice geisha. Maiko do use white makeup,
whether or not full geisha do.

Yes, thanks.

During their apprenticeship, they do. You omitted to mention
that. Westerners are not fabricating a lie about white makeup; they
are simply photographing the maiko, because they are more flamboyant
and picturesque to look at.

> Ooh! Carmen's getting personal! You're slipping.

You're an interesting troll. Apparently an asian woman, but using a
western male name. I was first interested by the fact that you are
obviously a native speaker of some asian language, as revealed by your

I looked around and found some references to "David Hero", but didn't

I asked her for clarification on "Pla" but I take it means something
along the lines of "homie".

Hello Cheri,

> Carmen? Are you OK, is your husband? I sure hope so.

The news came back, synovial sarcoma, confirmed.  A fairly rare cancer
- 500 to 800 cases per year are diagnosed - that's caused in 90% of
the cases by a piece of chromosome #18 ending up on the "X"
chromosome.  One of those with a known cause, but a cause that can't
be avoided.  The mutation just happens.
Nobody's blown a gasket yet.  We (up to and including his surgeons)
are just kind of stunned.  There are a lot more tests scheduled in the
next week to see if it's metastisized and if so to where and to what
extent.  This cancer's favorite travel destination is the lungs.
Life sucks right now, but we'll deal.  We always do.

Take care,
Carmen

Myra had that phrase that really summed it up perfectly:  "Life isn't
fair, but sometimes it's not fair in your favor".  We're hoping for
the latter, and plan on doing everything in our power to push the odds
in that direction.
Maybe we should start playing the lottery while we have the attention
of the powers that be?  Give them the chance to knock us for another
loop?  <G>

I've been researching away, and can make a convincing argument for at
least one more test of the tumor - genetic testing if it hasn't been
done yet (it probably has seeing as how the Armed Forces Institute of
Pathology is state of the art and world renowned) - and also I've
found a team at Cedars-Sinai that have a protocol that has yielded
significantly higher survival rates than is the norm for the cancer.
His surgeons seem like they'll listen to anything we bring them, as
long as it's reasonable.  If they don't, we'll be persistent until
they do.  One thing we really want to avoid is the amputation of the
hand they removed the tumor from (because in order to achieve a "safe
margin" - meaning a known tumor free zone around the tumor - they have
to take the whole hand).  That will likely be a point of contention,
so the plan is for us to push for chemo prior to any more surgery.  If
it turns up in his lungs or bones that'll be a moot point because it
will have already left the site of the original tumor.  It's odd
because the surgeons performed an excellent piece of surgery on the
tumor, removing it from the flexor tendon it had wrapped around and
away from the median nerve so carefully that he suffered no damage to
either structure.  His function in that hand is quite good, and with
some time will quite likely return to full normal.  Now these very
same surgeons have to consider removing the hand completely.  It seems
to offend them at a very deep level.  As one of them told me "We get
into this so we can restore function to people, and make their lives
easier.  We can't help but wear it on our sleeve a bit."
What do you know, doctors are people too.  ;-)

Take care,
Carmen

We're trying not to let that mindset get in.  The way we figure it,
the more ornery we are the better a chance we'll stand.  The rest of
the team (surgeons so far) aren't the sort to be rolled over without
fighting back either, so that's all to the good.

Thank you April.  We're all going to need all the energy we can get
for the coming months.  In order to really maximize Sarge's chances
we're going to have to throw everything short of nukes at it.  It's
kind of weird, but I couldn't help wishing the other day that he could
put on weight easily for just a while (he's 185 and 6'5") to give him
a reserve for what will likely come (radiation and/or chemo).

I'm so sorry to hear that, and my thoughts/prayers are with you.

Please take care of yourself as well as your husband and daughter, Carmen!

Thank you, and I certainly will.  I can't be as of much use to them if
I let my own health slide.  :-)

So sorry to hear that, Carmen.  Sending more good thoughts your way.
If it's any help, a friend of mine found chamomile and mint teas
helpful for nauseau when he was undergoing chemo a few years ago.

Thanks also for the kind words for my furbaby.  His bg stabilized to
normal range on LC catfood without insulin by the end of a week.

Thank you Jamie.  I dare say he'll end up doing some chemo.

Good!  How is doing the BG testing going?  For both of you?  Testing
your own BG isn't too traumatic, but doing it to something that can't
understand the need for it - just that it hurts - has got to be rough.

It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would.  I found
great links to online videos and close-up photos for it.  He is slightly
annoyed at having his ear held against the warming pad for a couple of
minutes before the test, but he doesn't seem to notice the lancet at all.
I guess ears are a lot less sensitive than fingertips.  Now that he's
stayed in normal range for a week on his lowcarb diet, my vet said I
could test him once a week, as long as he isn't exhibiting any symptoms.

That's great.  :-)  We've been very lucky in that our fuzzier
household members are all healthy and always have been.  When I was a
child we had a cat named Guido who had a lung disorder and I remember
quite vividly the oxygen tanks and hand feeding and sleepless nights
my parents went through.
Here's sending good wishes for the future.

Ack.  Sorry that the news wasn't better.  I hope that the tests come
back favourable and able to be dealt with.  If not, I guess someone's

There are lung tests (X-ray and CT scan) and a bone scan and then some
lymph node studies to be done.  We're on pins and needles as we wait
for them to be finished and interpreted.
I know at least one someone who ought to be wearing his jewels for
earrings by all rights.  The PA who looked at it in Iraq, Major Hoff.
He *is* going to receive a letter explaining what he did wrong and
what the implications are for Howard due to his lackadaisical
attitude.  Perhaps someone down the road will benefit from the lesson
"Fast growing painless masses require immediate investigation".

That would be rather difficult since, according to their headers, one lives
in Florida and the other lives in Australia. They both post through the
Berlin free news server but so do a lot of people.

I just love those "Aha!" moments.  It took me a while but I finally
"got it."   This is great, I've learned my something new for the day
and it's still early.

Well, Carmen is the one who spotted it and she prefers not to
broadcast how, so I think I'm going to agree with her on this one.
I'm sure it will come out sooner or later.

W00T!
For some reason it's not common knowledge. I don't reveal it on the
group for reasons that are probably clear to you now.  <G>

carmen,
for those of us who are electronically impaired, would you consider
sharing what you know?
or take your comments to email?

I got it, too (after a while).  Confirmed it by looking at some other user's
headers.  Good tip -- thanks, Carmen!

It took me a little longer than I expected to get it, cuz doppelgangers

(raising hand) I got it, too! BTW, just for the record, most Florida
residents aren't smarmy creeps. But you knew you that. Seems our Kevin
has either (a)way too much time on his hands or (b)an ax to grind with
someone, somewhere other than ASDLC. Maybe he needs to spend more time
smelling his bellybutton (his alter-ego, Kisha's suggestion)?

<Laughing>  No, Kevin isn't Drooling or JC.  I miss Drooling.  The
last I heard he sent me an email (!) that said he hoped I was happy,
that he'd been "Throwed out" of his trailer.  Trolls like that I don't
mind one bit.  I'll never forget the post he made about all his
friends in the cereal aisle at the grocery store.  <G>

I'm glad you're still on the wagon lady.  Keep it up.  :-)

Take care,
