I paid $8.95 for a 3/4 full container of the bacon and chives variety.
Expensive, absolutely. Taste and texture was just fine for me.

I paid 50 cents a can at the local flea market after a local supermarket dumped
them from their shelves. I must say they are worth just about that.
Used the way they recommend on the label, they taste like paste. The only way
I find them useful is to thicken chicken broth to make a soup.

When I made them for DH and myself ... I hated them and DH loved them :\
But I may give the bacon and chives a try, I didn't see those in my local
market.

You can simply add your own bacon and chives, I would think. I'd try
it with bacon and horseradish...
