I am not on Atkins, but I am on a LC diet. It's called Lean for Life. I think
it's similar to atkins....the results are astonishing. I hope I can keep it
up. I am new to this site & y'all seem like really good people. I have seen a
few that are stuck & disappointed their scale has stopped declining. Let me
explain my diet to you. I know nothing of Atkins, so it may be similar to mine,
I'm not sure. You start with 3 protein days. Eating only high protein snacks,
shakes, blah blah blah. On the third day you test for Ketosis. Once in
Ketosis, you incorporate salad for dinner & lunch. But your snacks remain high
protein. On the 7th day & once a week thereafter, you have a protein day
again. This keeps the level of Ketosis high. I have experimented with this.
Since the loss is so great when I am in Ketosis, I thought I would just eat
high protein for a week or so & see how that worked.... IT DIDN'T. I realized
you have to incorporate those carbs so that your body doesn't top out & it has
something to burn. Just a little insight for those of you who want to give up
because you aren't seeing the results you did in the beginning. Like i said, i
really don't know how atkins works or what the diet intails. So it may not work
for ya.

oh yeah - so if your "stuck" try to incorporate another fruit or veggie... or
have a little more salad to slightly increase your carbs & see how that works.

Why not add fat instead of carbs?
Too low of fat can trigger a stall.

Actually you might want to do some reading on how and why low carb works.
Protein is converted to
carbohydrate by the body at a rate of ~58%. So by dropping the veggies and
just eating protein you not only dropped your source of fiber, vitamins, and
minerals but you most likely didn't decrease your carb level at all. Not
only that but high protein diets are hard on the body. (That's why Atkins
followers get so aggravated when the media claims Atkins is high protein.)
Ketones are a byproduct of fat burning, both dietary and body fat. So if
you're stuck and you aren't overeating calories you would be better off
adding some fat rather than protein.
