was caught up in gaining weight and now need to get back on track.  I
have been a lurker/poster on this board in the past (any oldies out
there?)  Anyway - I woul dlove to hear any tips on restarting this
WOL...I am also looking for websites to buy some newer goodies that
weren't around years ago like flavoured pork rinds, etc so any sites
would be welcome as well

Pork rinds are sold at every Walmart these days...

Also, every grocery store carries low carb foods, such as meat etc.

I hope that you stick around...

Mark,

I'm an old timer. I took a year off at the end of 2001, got back on at the
end of 2002 and am currently at goal--more than 10 lbs below where I'd
stalled out for several years on my first attempt.

You may not experience the dramatic early weight loss you did the first time
you low carbed. This seems to be a "beginner's luck" phemononon for many
people.  Now that your body is familiar with being on a low carb regimen,
it's maybe going to lose weight more slowly--the way it did after you had
been low carbing for a few months.  But the weight will come off.

I'd suggest taking some time to analyze what made you go off plan last time
so you can address those problems with some new strategies this time.  Just
hoping that will-power will get you through may not be enough.  Once you've
identified what made you burn out if you can't come up with solutions for
those issues, why not post about them here?

As far as the new foods go, my own experience has been that too many of the
"low carb" products available everywhere contain sugar alcohols that greatly
increase my blood sugar and/or hunger.  And those that don't are often very
high in calories. So while items like the Breyer's low carb ice creams make
a nice treat every now and then, if you eat them every day, you might find
your weight loss slowing or stalling.

The best new product I've found is the low carb milk that Hood sells is
available in many supermarkets and Walmart and does seem to be very helpful.

The DaVinci sugar free syrups which you can find at Marshalls or TJMaxx are
a wonderful substitute for Splenda. One teaspoon = one teaspoon of the
powder.  There's no maltodextrin or carbs, little aftertaste, and you can
bake with them.

http://www.geocities.com/jenny_the_bean has a bunch of articles I've written
summing up what I learned this time round on my low carb journey.

I tried (a) (one) ranch flavored pork rind once...  imagine licking the
bottom of a fast food restaurants garbage disposal unit...  it just turned
to a ball of cold, lightly spiced, fat in my mouth. mm mm good! not.
