It seems that the message for some reason was cut. Damn XNews..
So here goes again. I'll try to fill the first part from memory,
and the rest a paste.

I've started atkins on January 1, 2004. Here's my profile:

- 28 years old male
- 6'2" tall
- 225 lb
- my goal is to be below 200 lb which is where I was back in 2000.

In 1999 I was 230lb, and I lost over 30lb in 6 months doing
the Scarsdale Medical diet, which is a form of low calorie atkins.

Here's what I ate all this time.  Mind you I NEVER EVER EVER
cheated.. NOT ONCE!

Breakfest:
----------
- 2 hard boiled eggs

Lunch:
-----
- a cup of romaine lettace
- either: - 4 small regular mushrooms
         - 3-4oz of celeray sticks
         - 3-4oz of cucumber
- about a table spoon of regular ceaser dressing
 (0.1g carb per serving!)
- MEAT*

Dinner:
-------
- Same as lunch

MEAT*:  Either:
------
- a pork sausage
- 0g carb hamburger
- 1/4 or 1/2 seasoned rotissary chicken

SNACK: (Only in the evenings) - either:
- 3 oz of low carb cheese
- a few shrimps from a shrimp ring

NOTE: I never add any saunces, no fruits, no dairy products,
no ketcup, no mustard, NOTHING above what's listed above!! PLAIN!
(Yes.. I'm that serious about loosing weight!)

DRINKS:
-------
- I drank about 10-12 glasses of water per day. A total of ~4 liters
(a gallon!)
- In the first week I drank diet coke, and I even dropped that. No
coffee, no tea. JUST WATER.

During the last 30 days, the following occured:

- my birthday - I didn't eat the cake nor anything beyond what's listed
above.
- company events - drank only water while everyone around be endulged in
free food galore!

At no time in 30 days did I cheat... NOT ONCE!

BODY CHANGES:
-------------
- I go to the washroom (#2) about twice per week. Grose.. but it's a sign
it's working. right? (very little to almost nothing comes out!)
- I'm never tired anymore after food.
- I'm never hungry after a few hours of eating.
- I don't snack anymore.
- 1.5 weeks ago, I decided to increase my fat intake.. and now eat bacon
for breakfest, and
added it to the snack list. I also changed from hardboiled eggs to fried
eggs. In butter.
- I've tried using ketonstix, and it shows me that when I wake up, I'm
low. Most of the day
at trace. When I started eating more fatty foods, it went up to the
middle line.

RESULTS:
--------

In 30 days, I haven't lost a single lb. I weight myself every friday to
the same results. I also didn't gain a lb. I have no medical conditions
that I'm aware of, and have lost weight before on other diets (scarsdale
medical diet.. which is an atkins like  diet.. except with highly
restricted calorie count).

All my friends that lost 20+ lbs in less than 6 months are shocked.  They
even called me an extreamest for not cheating and counting every last
gram. In many  cases, I've been sticking to less than 10g.

As you can imagine, I'm at the boiling point. I'm getting married to a
wonderful person in July, and I'm tired of being fat.

Today I had my first diet coke (hated it! water tastes so much better!!)
and went with my coworkers out for chinease food (didn't touch the rice..
not used to carbs..)  So technically speaking, oday's the first time in a
month that I probably went over the 20g.

PLEASE HELP. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!?!???

I am not sure if not losing weight on atkins is a sign of bad
health. The opposite could be the case.

Try eating less, and exercising, combined with modest low carbing.

It works. Eat same stuff as before, but 20% less. And walk/run also.

I didn't see anything about activity in your daily plan. Also, if your carbs
are so low and you're not losing, then you really need to check your calorie
intake.

I started the same day as you and have been less of a purist ( I know what I
can eat and don't count every carb...I just plan ahead) and my results have
been pretty good. I'm down 14lbs, and my size 40 jeans which were red mark
around the waist tight (I really shoulda been in a 42) are getting lose.

I don't cheat and I exercise. Hang in there and you'll see the eight loss.

Leon K,your first post went through and four people have already
responded to it with more questions.

The only suspect thing is the rotisserie chicken. If you get it from
somewhere they could easily be basting it with spices and even sugar.
A tsp of many spices can contain up to 1.2 carbs--I know because I
make my own rub for meats, and it costs.

Is there no change in your clothes, face, something?

If you were over 300 lbs a common problem is home scales can't measure
your weight. I recall a post here where someone said they couldn't
lose weight, but then realized that they had maxed out the scale. They
actually were more than the scale could measure and were actually
losing, despite the scale's dial being pegged. At 350 lbs most
300/330/350 lb scales were useless for me.

Find it odd that you haven't even wavered. I would suggest create some
exercise. When I shovel snow or even go for a 1.5 miles walk to the
post office and back I get better results. Trying to break the pattern
with some kind of exercise. It may get the ball rolling.

Atkins does talk about people with very resistance metabolisms who
don't respond at 20g. He has a chapter of how to deal with this.

I only see one cup of salad veggies in your menu. Leon. Recommendation
is for 3 cups. (20g carbs total.)

The vitamins and phytochemicals in veggies are important to metabolism
function. Ignore them at your own risk.

P.S. I wouldn't have it all be iceberg lettuce either. You might as
well drink water. Go for something with some dark green in it.

You don't have a huge amount to lose, like JC I think you maybe need
to track your calories.

Leon,

I had a similar problem to yours.  I did Atkins religiously for 6
weeks and only lost 3-4 pounds.  I got very frustrated and went to my
doctor to have a full set of bloodwork run and make sure my thyroid
didn't have any problems (some people discover they have thyroid
problems when they are unable to lose weight).  Then I went to the
Atkins website and found information on Atkins' Fat Fast.  It is even
more restrictive than Induction, and it is specially geared towards
people with very high metabolic resistance.  It's hard, but while I
was on it, I lost nearly a pound a day (I also walked about 4 times a
week).  Give it a try if you've got the willpower.  Good luck!  Hang
in there!!
