I have two questions for all of you.
1. What is a "crash"? What are the symptoms and what do they mean?

2. A long time ago someone posted a note about "foamy pee". I don't remember
anything else about it except that it caused quite an alarming stir. Anyone
know about this or remember it?

Thanks in advance and I am sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseaum
(sp?)

A crash I guess to me is when you binge or eat something high in
sugar, carbs, caffeine, and your system cannot handle it. You get
fatigues, and crave more sugar.  I did that in the past.

Have had the foamy pee. It was from a Kidney infection.

A crash to a diabetic is when your blood glucose goes too low. It vaires from
doctor to doctor but mine says treat at 70 or below. Since this is a low carb
group and many low carb dieters are here because they are diabetic I am
assuming that must be what you are referring to. If not treated you can die
very quickly. It's most likely to happen to diabetics who use insulin or on
blood glucose lowering medicines rather than those who are on diet and exercise
alone or on glucophage which works differently then most other diabetic meds
and is therefore less likely to give you a crash. Symptoms are a feeling of
weakness, disorientation, confusion and clammy skin. It can cause sudden
unwarranted aggressive behavior.I have head stories of people who try to fight
the person trying to treat them. When the BG is really low you are not getting
glucose(fuel) to the brain so the person's ability to think degrades quickly
and untreated they will lose consciousness and eventually die. Depending on
severity it could all happen in as little as just a few minutes.

Diabetics often also call it a 'hypo" in this case its short for hypoglycemic
incident and has nothing to do with hypodermic as it would mean to many in the
medical community. As a diabetic I find the slang we use oddly overlaps on
other groups slang. For example diabetics see an "endo" which is short for
endocrinologist, but endo also means endometriosis to those who work in OB -
GYN. So don't feel bad for feeling confused - it's the language not you.

I haven't thought of this in years but............
When I started working in a mostly male environment coming from a hospital
the term "T & A" was being discussed in the office. (way before sexual
harrasment too) It took me the longest time to realize they were not talking
about Tonsils and Adenoids. :)

Thanks for the information, not the symptoms I am having thank goodness.

I have a couple of other medical things in addition to diabetes and when I
first started reading newsgroups I kept getting confused by the acronyms
because so many of the same ones are used by different groups but can mean
totally different things in each group.  I must admit, I have never heard the T
and A one used for anything except the most common usage. LOL
