This picutre is a little old when I was a little fatter.

http://www.geocities.com/atlantic965/12-23-2002B.jpg

I wore a ALMOST size 42 Dockers Pants in those days. Now I wear maybe
a 38. But it does more or less represent the shape of my body. IE
scrawny arms, massive love handles, I have much less stomach today I
would say. I had a slow start on Atkins but then when I began stocking
Grocery shelves at the WAL-MART supercenter near where I live I shed
tons of flab. I seem to have stopped. I think I need to do more
resistance exercises but do not know any other than push up which I
have great difficulty with or stomach crunches. If anyone out there
can give me practical advice and if possible pictures out there on the
web or sites I can reference I would really appreciate it.

Someone on my forum claimed to have gained 30 lbs in 3 months eating
800-1000 calories/day.

In the FFID universe, 800 cal can magically cause weight gain.

404's aren't low carb.

Eat www.stumptuous.com/weights.html , exercise more.

Thanks for all the advice, but I don't have the time nor the $$$ to
join the Y or similar club. Anything I could do at home?

Did you actually read any of the advice?

Are you too stupid to know what pushups are?

James, look at www.stumptuous.com again - there is information there about
workouts around the home.  Wait, I'll find it for you ... here:  Go to
http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html and click on "Workouts" and then
click on "no weights? no problem!"

I can't help you with the funding aspect, though if you'll google for posts
about the Y in the last few weeks you'll find that it is very reasonably
priced and subsidizes memberships for those who cannot afford it.

As for time, if you believe you don't have time to work out, you won't.  If
you believe you do have time, you will.  It is up to you how high you
prioritize it among the other things you do.   For example, in the time it
took you to read the responses to your thread here and respond in kind, you
could have done a set of bodyweight squats, a set of pushups, and a set of
crunches.

lifting.

James, if you are interested in weight training, you should visit
www.stumptuous.com/weights.html .  The site is primarily geared toward
women, but the exercise advice and routines are great for men as well - one
of the main points of the site is that women do not need to train
differently from men.  The site offers great instruction in weight training
using free weights, and even has a section on training using objects around
the house.

You can also visit www.exrx.net/Exercise.html , but personally I find that
site more useful as a reference than as a beginner's guide to weight
training.

Hope these help,

There ya go.  You have a simple cause-and-effect right there.  At one
point you started a no-junk-food regimen and it worked.  Then you
started adding junk and it stopped working.  A claim of low carb on
the label doesn't stop it from being junk.

Back to the butcher and green grocer, what you were doing when it worked.

Exercise?  Absolutely.  Good stuff.  Go for it.  But don't use it as
a cure for eating junk foods that claim to be low carb on their label.
Use it to celebrate your renewed and once again successfull
no-junk-food regimen.

What's your CCLL?  Did you spend the full week out of ketosis?
