I was doing a test tonight to see how many packets of splenda it would take
before 2 quarts of ice tea (no caffine of course) would take before the tea
would taste sweatened.  I got to 5 packets before I could taste some
sweetness to the tea.  One packet of splenda is equal to about 1 gram of
carbs (ok maybe a bit less but not much less) and I can see it's very easy
to use 25% of your allowed carbs on induction in splenda alone!  That is
scary:)  I guess I'll be drinking tea unsweatened then:(

Right....if you're going to drink a lot of it.

Another way to go is to drink something like Diet Rite....those are
sweetened with the liquid version of splenda (no bulk filler), so you don't
get any carbs.  Fruit 2 0 is another splenda sweetened flavored drink you
can buy...

Try making your tea weaker, if you are used to drinking it with sugar.  I
grew up with 'boiled' iced tea (bleaahh!) that was heavily sugared, but I
now drink unsweetened tea that is steeped (covered) for 5 mins. in water
that is brought just under a boil (right when the fine bubbles start coming
up) and removed from the heat.  I use 6 regular tea bags to a gallon of
water.

Think I'll go make a pitcher right now!
