Chocolate mint patties are not low carb.

Someone on my forum claimed to have gained 30 lbs in 3 months eating
800-1000 calories/day.
In the FFID universe, 800 cal can magically cause weight gain.

75% of maltitol turns into glucose in the body. (It metabolizes a 3
calories instead of the 4 of table sugar.) You can do the math yourself.
http://www.geocities.com/jenny_the_bean/products.htm points you to a bunch
more information about maltitol.
The Russell Stover Maltitol candies raise my diabetic blood sugar almost as
high as regular Russell Stovers. It just takes an hour longer.

It looks like zero, but you can't rely on simply that. Your body will
have a specific reaction to the sugar alchohols (Maltitol, sorbitol).
I ate mutffins with Maltitol. If I ate a whole muffin I found my daily
weight loss slowed by half its normal rate. A half a muffin a day was
undetectable in my numbers. The muffins were 30g carbs, 3 fiber and
net 4g, so 23g were maltiol related. If you eat them a little each day
for a week see if it affects your numbers over time. Everyone is
different.
