Well after going to the doctor and NOT getting lectured or reprimanded for
my WOE, I received my blood test results.

All is well:

Total Cholesterol    174 (<200)
Triglycerides            85  (<150,100)
HDL                        47  (>40)
LDL                        110 (<130)

TSH                        3.59 (0.4 - 4.5)

Not too shabby, eh?

Looks great! What was your cholesterol before starting the diet? And
how much have you lost?

Unfortunately, I only have had my cholesterol checked once before.  It was
about 8 years ago, pre-pregnancies (and added weight) it tested if I
remember correctly about the same 170ish.

My all time heaviest was probably 250.  But on Dec. 1st, I weighed in at
238.  So I have lost, thus far, 27 pounds.

I wanted to be sure that the WOE was not increasing my total cholesterol or
my triglycerides and it isn't!

You can get your cholesterol tested for free by donating blood.

Some places.  I donate regularly since the one-year anniversary of a
blood transfusion I received myself.  The Red Cross around here
doesn't do that.

And even when they do test, most give you just a test for total
cholesterol.  This doesn't tell you much about your overall health
risk.  But donating blood is A Good Thing, and you can find out if
your levels of iron in your blood are in a good range, likewise your
blood pressure.  And no, you don't have to eat or drink the sugary
stuff afterwards.

Donating is most definitely A Good Thing.  :-)  I wouldn't have died
without my transfusion but those four people made it possible for me
to have surgery I needed.  You just never know when you or someone you
care about will need it.
The information you get is also valuable.  Because of meds I take I
become anemic (iron deficiency) no matter how much iron rich food I
eat so the 'crit is excellent info for me.  It lets me know when to
supplement.

Take care,
Carmen

Not in most places I've seen. The Red Cross probably couldn't care less
about serum cholesterol. Hepatitis, now.... Anyway, unless you're doing
a fasting test it's virtually useless; and you don't want to fast before
letting go of half-a-quart of blood. Don't ask me how I know this...

You don't HAVE to, but those four or five Nutter Butters per year is
something I don't want to give up. Blood bank - the only place I ever
ate cookies.

Your lipids look just great!  Your TSH may be out of the new recommended
ranges, though, I think 3 is the top of the new range.

Do you have free T3 results?

Congrats!

No, the doctor only ordered the TSH.  Although 3.59 is a bit high, I don't
think he will do anything about it since I have been losing.  I guess if I
get to the point where I won't lose anymore, I'll ask him to address the TSH
level.
