Coffe Mate has corn syrup solids as the first ingredient. It is not a good
product for a low carb diet.

Not to mention the fact that it's the most vile putrid crap on the
face of the earth.  Crayons are more nutritious.

And, IMHO, they taste better (not that I've tasted them
since I was 4 ;-)

Not the Orange ones.
Probably not the new "Macaroni & Cheese" color, either.

According to coffee-mate.com, the original flavor has 2g of carbs per
tablespoon.  imo, that's pretty low, but I also think most people use more
than a tablespoon.

I have only 3 flaws.  My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

It isn't the carb count, it's the ingredients. While I don't think one
serving would hurt, the sugar can cause problems for some of us...makes me
want more. BTW, they have a half and half product out now that would be
better, same carbs, different ingredients.

In my case, I add 1/2 a tbsp coffee mate to my coffee and then add
whipping cream or half&half and artificial sweeteners  too.   I just
like the flavor that it adds.   And for special treats, I add some
carb countdown chocolate milk.   This is partly to compensate for the
fact that I've never had the priviledge of paying the big bucks for
the starbucks treats.

Thanks guys....it's 1.7 carbs per teaspoon, and that's all I need in my
coffee...

I went out and bought it, it's not perfect but it's do- able. I need to
study tonight anyway...:)

I don't think it will be a problem, but if it does trigger cravings I'll
stop using it for sure. I finally am at the point where I don't crave
anything and am no longer fixated on food :)

Pre-LC I used those awful flavored creamers with tons of sugar in them and
I used way more than a teaspoon, or I used milk.  Now I use half & half and
whatever artificial sweetener we have around, and if I want flavor I add
some powdered cinnamon.  Now those flavored creamers taste way too sweet to
me, and milk is way too watery.

Coffee mate is one of the worst products on the market.  It is nothing
but glucose, TRANS FATS, and artificial flavors.

Ignorance is an excuse, but if anyone who reads this ever uses the
product again, that person deserves to die of coronary artery disease.

Use 40% heavy cream.  It tastes better too.

The first main ingredient is corn syrup solids.  People think it isn't
sweetened, but it does add quite a bit of sweetness, although not enough
for people who usually add sugar as well.

The second main ingredient is partially hydrogenated vegetable oil --
the type of man-made artificially saturated fat that was used in research
(instead of naturally saturated fats) to "prove" that saturated fat
was bad.

So it's loaded with sugar and harmful trans-fats.
The rest is flavoring and anti-caking ingredients.

Buy some cream, fer chrissakes.  It tastes better, and it's better for
you.

And some Da Vinci or Torani SF syrups.  They can sweeten and add interesting
flavors to your coffee (I like Gingerbread)
