Hi,

Yesterday and today I was using nutrasweet instead of splenda (it's a lot
cheaper) and I notice I have a return of the heartburn I used to have
before lc.  Anyone else have this problem?

I don't use nutrasweet so I can't comment directly on that.
However, for me, I've long had what I thought of as two
different types of heartburn, at least by cause.

There was the one which was caused just by being overweight.
It made no difference what or when I ate, when I went to bed
I would spend the night with heartburn.  This one was
chronic but has long since gone away since losing weight.

The other, for me, is clearly caused by specific trigger
foods.  I was fortunate to be able to isolate two food items
long ago and avoid them.  The two that set me off are
radishes and raw green bell pepper.

My point being, don't be surprised if/when a specific food
causes a negative reaction.  Be thankful you know and, if it
is bothersome, avoid it.  I can't explain why a cooked bell
pepper doesn't bother me but it does when raw.  And, though
I hadn't had one in years, I ate a radish a few weeks ago to
see if it still has the same effect on me since losing this
weight.  The answer is a definitive yes...I won't be doing
that again.

Maybe your doctor should test you for H. Pylori.

If it were H. Pylori, it would be a lot more bothersome than this, and
almost certainly have more than one trigger food.  Thanks for the
suggestion, though.

I get the heartburn with raw onions. Heartburn don't happen anymore,
at least not like it used to. I was constantly taking tums and
rolaids.  The LC dieting does help with many things.
