I have quit smoking for 2 months now and just started atkins 6 days ago. Yo, this drug kills cravings I used to crave pizza and chinese food and wings and alcohol. I am a new person I have to make an effort to eat my 20G a day( lots of salad) Not to mention that most people who take wellbutrin lose weight anyway, plus I wasnt depressed, and its an anti depressant!!!! it isnt for everyone( if you have had seziures or brain surgery) No sexual side effects..it is made by GSK >I have quit smoking for 2 months now and just started atkins 6 days ago. Yeah, it's sold under two names, Wellbutrin for depression and Zyban to help quit smoking, but it's the same drug. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws. Wellbutrin the antidepressant is another name for Zyban the quit-smoking drug. They are two different brand names for the exact same substance-- bupropion. I'm glad it's working for you ... but are you going to get help to kick the Wellbutrin after you feel you've conquered the smoking? Slathered in hot sauce (make sure it has no sugar, and don't use barbecue sauce) and butter, they're perfect. I make them myself at home using the original buffalo wings recipe from a bottle of Frank's hot sauce. Yesterday I made some deep fried chicken breasts, cut into small pieces.. I dipped them in egg first, then rolled them around in atkins bake mix. Used peanut oil to deep fry them. They turned out pretty damn good. The diet never reduced my carb cravings nor did it reduce my appetite. Without 5-htp and L-glutamine I would have taken candy from a baby. :) Without L-phenylalanine I would have fought a grizzly for a rack of ribs. Did you notice a lack of cravings before you started Atkins? I've been on Wellbutrin for a year now and it didn't do anything to my appetite. Once I started induction and stopped eating all those carbs, I didn't crave them. I was down 15LBS prior to atkins. I did run 20Miles a week. Not smoking helped me do that. I dont have a bubble so no problem. I was just offering it to people who may want to quit smoking and lose weight . of course only a doctor will determine if you can take it. I have lost 50lbs. I am not a strict low carber but I do limit carbs and sugar. Wellbutrin has helped me with the cravings and obsessions. It makes you more in control of yourself. Plus it has helped me get off my a.s and start an exercise program. It hasn't really helped me with smoking but I haven't really put my mind to it. When my prescription runs out i am going to talk to my Dr. about XL because with regular Wellbutrin, I get anxiety and jittery for a few hours after I take a dose, but then it subsides. Like I drank 6 cups of coffee. Did you have that problem? I had that problem when I was on it, and for me it was bad enough to stop taking it. I got jittery, irritable, angry, and paranoid. It really scared me when I found myself with a very strong urge to kick my dog when he was in my way, because I could never before even imagine hurting an animal. I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL Tuesday of this week. Maybe starting over won't be as difficult as I'd imagined it would be.
