One thing that disturbs me more than low carb pod people is constant
OT crossposting. As a long standing poster in alt.support.diabetes, I
am sure some of you in this group know me. Sooooooooo as I hate
crossposting so much, and I have decided that this group needs my
point of view so much,  I have decided to join! (and to bring a few
like minded individuals in ASD along with me) Of I suppose the
constant barrage of postings by either non-diabetics, or those fueling
OT flame wars could end. Your choice.

No offense taken. I am far from perfect in my usage, spelling, and
grammar, but I do make an attempt. Lame though it may be at times.
Thanks for the welcome Monica!

Well it *is* sad. We shouldn't have to be on constant lookout for OT

problems with spammers, scammers, snake oil salesmen, and plain ole

Life on usenet......... Doesn't have to be. Kiddie Porn and Virii are
life on usenet too. The good thing about TOSs and AUPs of most ISPs is
that excessive crossposting is grounds for losing ones accounts. That
is life on usenet too.

I use my killfile liberally. Be that as it may, there are many who
(e.g. web tv and  Forte Free Agent users) don't have the ability to
use a killfile. Then there are those who pay by the amount of
bandwidth they use. So, as I am sure you know, there are many valid
reasons not to crosspost, beside violating your TOS, and AUP, and in
the case of ASD, the charter. Or are you simply dense?

Bandwidth issues is exactly what cross-posting is *for*.  Otherwise,
users subscribed to multiple groups have to download the same message
multiple times.  You're *supposed* to cross-post if a message is
relevant to more than one group rather than post it separtly.

Excessive cross-posting doesn't mean cross-posting at *all* - it means
cross-posting to like 40 groups or something.  There's *no* reason to
do that except if you're spamming - cause there's no message relevant
to that many groups.

I subscribe to both groups you're discussing.  Lots of info *is*
relevant to both... the whole frigging reason I low-carb is cause I'm
diabetic.

Your introductory message to *this* group states your *purpose* here
is trolling.  That likely violates your own ISP's TOS.

You don't have much of a leg to stand on when you complain about
people doing what they are *supposed* to do while you're trolling
yourself.  Rather like Bush complaining about excessive government
spending or something.

You are assuming that the person is subscribed to both or as many NGs
the message is X-Posted too, to begin with. Secondly, you are assuming
the messages are on topic. The flood of OT flame war posts coming from
this group, most certainly *is not*. Plus any time someone from here
gets in a pissing match with Chung, or Mu it somehow ends up in ASD.

>Excessive cross-posting doesn't mean cross-posting at *all* - it means
>cross-posting to like 40 groups or something.  There's *no* reason to

You define it your way, I will define it mine. I consider excessive to
be the *number* of posts. That is the violation of our charter, and
posting in violation of our charter is a violation of the users AUP,
and TOS.

>I subscribe to both groups you're discussing.  Lots of info *is*

I have seen you post in ASD, but in my years there, I can't say you
have been regular poster. Be that as it may, notice I didn't mention
legitimate posts in my original message here. I referred to post by
non-diabetics, and OT flame war posts, did I not?

>Your introductory message to *this* group states your *purpose* here
>is trolling.  That likely violates your own ISP's TOS.

My original message stated that I thought this NG needed my point of
view. Please explain how that constitutes trolling? Does everyone here
share the same opinions on every subject? I think not. If you think I
am in violation of my IP's TOS, and AUP, please report me. I welcome
your challenge.

That is an outright lie Tony, and you know it!  I have no use for the
ADA, and any high carb diet. I strenuously object to extremist
fruitcake diets, of those pod people who consider a failed supplement
scammer, and a complete quack MD, to be infallible gods whose books

My goodness, you people are so touchy over here! I suppose the truth
does hurt. I love to see pod people go bury their heads in the sand on
the first salvo. I do wonder though, what is an ether-hand? I know
ether is not used as an anesthetic anymore, but what it has to do with
one's hand, is beyond me! (as many things are) Ha Ha beat ya to it!
Well Peter, I am sure I will miss you. Now if you can only learn how
not to crosspost. Shall I post a FAQ for the group?

Crossposting is generally frowned up in the alt.support.diet hierarchy.
Most of the crossposted threads are started by the morphing Mu troll,
who also crossposts them to sci.med.nutrition

A "long standing poster" such as yourself, especially one using Forte
Agent as your headers state, ought to have figured out how to filter
unwanted threads by now.

MU/Chung is not responsible for this latest incursion. Plus is it
irrelevant. I am in a position to KF many, and I have. Just for sh.ts
and giggles, after I installed a new HD, and re-downloaded and
installed all my apps, I did not import my killfiles. I was horrified.
Though I am quite capable KFing all over again, there are many posters
in ASD who cannot. It is for them that I decided to join this NG. Plus
this group is in desperate need of guidance.
