At least you only bought one. I'm sitting here with a friggin' 12-pack (now
and forevermore an 11-pack) in my fridge!

Hm. Well there's always Ebay.

Let me know when you do.

If only I owned a flock of foraging animals, I'd feed it to them. No human
should drink it.

LOL, guess I am among the majority who likes them.  Try putting them in the
blender with some ice, and giving them more of a milkshake texture

I liked the chocolate as well.  The vanilla was OK, but the strawberry was
pretty nasty.  The strawberry Breyers ice cream is very very good!  I got
some the other day and it is just as tasty as the chocolate.  Too bad the
Atkins shakes aren't as good as the ice cream.  Also, I have tried the
chocolate & vanilla varieties of low carb slim-fast shakes.  They are
similar to Atkins, but have 2 carbs I believe.  I think the only shake I
have left in te fridge is a vanilla atkins which I intend to mix in a
blender with some of the strawberry ice cream for a nice shake.

I have not tried the Chocolate Royale or whatever it is called.  I don't
want something too chocolatey.

I have to confess that I like the shakes that come in the cans, both the
Atkins shakes, the LC SlimFast shakes, and the CarbOptions shakes (I also
tried the CarbSolutions ones but they are putrid).

I like to keep a few cans around for emergencies where I need something to
tide me over but just don't have the time and inclination for a meal. The
vanilla ones are great with a few splashes of DaVinci syrups in various
flavors.

The CarbSolutions shakes in the bottles were quite good, IMO.  I didn't
discover them until they were almost discontinued and put on half price.
I think they failed mainly because they were a an unknown brand at the
time, but were priced as expensive as the Atkins shakes.

But then they reformulated the shakes in the cans to be fat-free and
low-carb, and they taste like badly-flavored chalk-water.

I had a similar experience yesterday but with another low-carb product. Our
local health food store has a range of 'Nature's Best Easy Body Protein
Powders' that you mix with hot water. I bought a pack of five tomato soups
and tried one.
Yuck is just the right word for it.
This gunge was salmon pink so didn't even have the decency to look like
tomato soup let alone taste even remotely edible. That went straight down
the drain and the remaining four went into the trash can.
How do these people have the gall to sell such junk on the pretext of it
representing some kind of health food?

Well you learn by your mistakes. I did buy the smallest pack as a trial.

I don't understand why people buy things like this, find they are TERRIBLE,
then don't return them for a refund?????
Both the Atkins shakes and the protein powders; why not return them to where
you bought them????

I don't understand why people buy things like this in the first place,
full-stop.

I usually don't buy junk like this, but DH and I were on a buying binge at
Costco. It's not the first time I've brought home stuff from Costco that I
don't need.

Costco will take back pretty much anything, at any time, for any reason. I'd go
for a refund!

I love the chocolate delight one that comes in the 4 pack. It is 7.86
for 4 cans here and I drink EOD. Reminds me of the old high carb
Slimfast shakes. I loved them. Steve is the royale a richer darker
chocolate??????

i will give it another try................maybe i didn't shake it up
enough?
diane - 11 Mar 2004 06:26 GMT
Yes, give it a good shake. I found it to be quite filling.
I've been pretty regular with my meals, and if its getting to be 6 hours
and I haven't eaten, these get me by at 2-3 net carbs and I'll have enough
stamina to work the rest of the day. Wal-Mart has them for about $6.50 for
the 4 pack.  I sat through a spread of free pizza one lunch with one of
these shakes and could care less about the pizza-I ate a pepperoni slice and
walked away. Coworker was amazed.
I find It makes me thirsty for more water- a good thing.

It's never occurred to me you can return things just because you don't like
the taste. But this is so god-awful that I will.

Microwave it for a minute, and it tastes like hot chocolate.  I put Rediwhip on
it and it is really good.

I guess you and I are the only ones who drink the shakes.  It says to serve
cold, and I found them to be an ok emergency food- I keep a few chocolate
and strawberry at work, and in the trunk of the car where it is still cold.

It tastes better than nothing for lunch when I'm asked to stay. At least I'm
getting some vitamins out of it.

::waving sheepishly::  Does the shake mix count?

The shake mix is the only thing that got me through my TOM chocolate cravings.
They weren't bad this time, but they were still there.  And while I usually
gain and lose 3 pounds each month, this time I gained and lost only 1 1/2.  But
I still wanted chocolate.

Here's the smoothie I made on those days (probably not for induction or SB's
Phase 1).  Blend:
2/3 cup plain yogurt
2/3 cup milk
1 packet Splenda
2 scoops Atkins chocolate shake mix
1/3 cup frozen raspberries

Because I no longer had the proof of purchase. However, I shall let the shop
know about my opinion of these products next time I go there.

Actually, you have no legal right to return anything.  That is,
unless the seller actually has specifically added that policy.

Rosie,

As far as I'm concerned, the words "Atkins" and "Yuk" are synonymous.  I
have yet to find a single Atkins Nutritionals product that didn't taste
disgusting.

I try just about any new product that looks like it might actually be low
carb. The very few that they make have all ended up in the trash after one
serving. A very expensive experiment!

I've read that the shakes and the bars stall weight loss.
only use them (eat them) if in a jam and no time to eat something better.
try http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/
they have all the info you need for the Atkins program
