Just curious: I recall Ketchup being one of those forbidden
condiments...well, I dont use much of the stuff anyhow, but my wife asked me
as she reached for the Heinz today by accident, and said "Say, this stuff is
only 4 grams of carbs per one or two tablespoons"....and she generally just
uses a dollup or two....
I scratched my head and said "Hmmm..damned if I know, I thought it was like
BBQ Sauce..18+ grams per tablespoon or something".
So...anyhow....why was everyone excited about LC Ketchup when the stuff is
apparrantly pretty LC to begin with?
(I didn't look at the label, I'm just parroting what my wife said to me)...

There's a big difference between 4 g/carb for 1 tablespoon and 4g/carb
for 2 tablespoons. And I find that I use more than 1 tablespoon at a
time, so it's 8 g/carb for regular vs 2g/carb for the LC ketchup. So
it's really a matter of whether I want to "spend" half my dinner carbs
on ketchup or not.

Alice nailed it. Several grams is significant when on induction or you have
a low carb maintenance threshold. Who want to use up most of their carb
limit on ketchup. Also consider that the carbs are mainly due to high
fructose corn syrup... in my oppinion a major contributer to the girth of
the population.

Well, speaking strictly for myself, I am one of those who likes a little
food with my ketchup. ;)

My DH can very easily eat a over a 1/4 C (4 tbls) of ketchup with an
order of french fries. This would add up for me, low carb wise. I simply
don't use it, case closed.
It's not something I just can't live without.

Have your wife measure what she uses. She might be surprised at how
much her dollup is. It's not as important if you are eating 50 g of
carbs a day, but for those whose choices are more limited it's a
godsend.
