I've decided to throw caution to the wind, and share my progress photos.
Why?  Because I think they could be helpful to people struggling with the
question of whether or not to stay on their plan.  Backsliding is not a
good thing, and I'm here to prove it.

I look like I swallowed a beach ball.

OK Carol -- you know what to do -- you've done it before.  It
won't be long before you are back to where you were -- and this
time remember that whatever form of low carb diet you select,
Carb Addicts, Atkins, South Beach, or whatever, the trick is to
keep in mind that it is a WOE (Way Of Eating), and that means
you change your way for life!  It's not such a bad sentence though!

Good Luck,

Irv

I keep an unflattering photo of me on the frig.  It reminds me every day why
I'm doing this.

<smile>  Thanks, Irv.  I'm going with Atkins again.  If it ain't broke,
don't fix it!  It's more of a challenge when you have someone in the house
who isn't low-carbing, but he's supportive, and that helps a lot!

Carol,
We learn from our mistakes.  I'm sure you've learned a thing or two about
yourself, but please don't get down on yourself for a mistake!
You're back at what works.  That is the important thing.

Mark.

Yup, it sure is, Mark.  I'm approaching things from a new perspective this
time around.  I'm allowing myself to be human, and not beat myself up over
eating issues.  Just stick with the plan.

Thanks,

You are very brave to do this, Carol!  I've said it before and I'll say it again
-- your 2003 progress photos were a MAJOR inspiration to me.  They also provided
ME with the courage to post photos relatively early on, which in turn has
inspired others -- we pay it forward :-)  You've had a LOT to deal with -- more
than the average person -- yet you persevere and pick yourself right back up
again when you're able, which is ALSO a great example, so here's a great, bit
ATTAGIRL for you!

Thanks so much, Saffire.  :)  Sometimes I reflect on my life, and wonder if
I'm making a difference in this world because I don't  have what most
people would consider "a life."  Comments like yours help remind me that my
life is worthwhile, and that I *do* make a difference.

I'm not sure if my response is making a lot of sense.  The bottom line is,
you've really touched me, and given me a feeling of purpose.  I feel a lot
less insignificant than I did fifteen minutes ago.  Thank you again for
your very kind words.  YOU make a difference, too!

Very cool that you dare do this, instead of being swallowed by
embarressment.

Thanks, buddy.  I wasn't going to do it at first, but dammit, if I can help
one person to avoid doing what I did, the embarassment is worth it.

It's great to be back!

Thanks for posting those, Damsel.  You are right:  they may help
some of us stay on the straight and narrow.  Nice to see you back,
er, here, again!

You're very brave to post these pictures. Hopefully, it will be a
reminder to you so you won't backslide again. I'm in the same boat
with you - lost it - found it again. Determined this time not to let
it back in.
