A quick run down. 6'4" big boned. 300ish/250/240ish. Started at the end of
September 2003. Reached the low 250's about 4 weeks ago. Was on induction
level almost the entire time. Very strict but for me very easy :).

Ok so I have basically achieved my goal. I have added carbs over the past
four weeks and im not really counting any more to be honest. I have had
some hi carb days (wife's birthday weekend total splurge 8 pieces of cake
in two days plus untold amounts of bread and pasta). I watch what i eat
(haven't returned to my old ways by any means) but i am eating a lot more
carbs then i was on induction.

I have assumed that i would start to gain a little back. I haven't. Over the
past 4 weeks i have managed to loose about 3 to 5 pounds. I still feel
great. So i guess my question is, is this somewhat normal?

Without a total carb count its hard to tell. Maybe i am actually eating a
lot less then i was when i gained my weight. (my weight gain to 300 from
240ish was well over a 5 year period) I am just a little surprised/confused
by this. I realized I haven't given you a complete nutritional breakdown of
the last four weeks but i really cant.

Could you please post any comments/suggestions regarding this topic. As
usually i respect and appreciate the views of all the wonderfull people on
this group :)

You should have lost WAY more then that if you stayed on induction the
entire time for 5 months.

50lbs over 5 months seems quite a lot to me. More than adequate, I wish
I would be losing so easily.

Make the claim all you want, but that inconvenient real world gets
in the way.

Some continue to lose staying low, more stall staying low.  You lucked
out.  Cool.

The basics of Atkins do require counting.

From very low to CCLL you are in ketosis and losing.  From above CCLL to
CLLM you are out of ketosis and not losing or drifting slowly towards
your real ideal weight.  Above CCLM the gain starts.

So basically by adding carbs according to the plan, you've guessed your
way into your maintenance range.  If you'd counted you would know how
to sustain that non-gain forever.  So start counting again and you will
not regain.

You did well.

Unfortunately I'm not at the point where I can give you advice on
maintenance but I did want to say congrats!! 50 lbs gone in 5 months is a
great accomplishment.

And pay no attention to Sseaott. He has no idea what he's talking about and
if he ever gets a clue it's going to die of loneliness.
