I finally gave in and did it. I mixed the 2 joys in my life: Low-Carbing
& Online Chatting.
I made a chatroom in TalkCity called "LowCarbLifestyle". You can get to
it by going to  http://forums.talkcity.com/tc-LowCarb1/

If not a member of TalkCity, go ahead and sign up. It's free and easy.

I would like to be in there 24/7 to keep the room going, but
unfortunately I have to do those silly things like work and sleep. So
I'll probably make it in the mornings until about 9am EST, and then off
to bed (I work nights). You all can be salesmen (and women) for the room
and get the word out to all your low-carb lists & groups to really make
this a big hit.

Plus this is a first for me, so any ideas how to make this a success,
I'm all ears.

something else to check out for chatting. (if you have the horsepower it
needs quite a bit of it)

www.secondlife.com

its an amazingly cool and fun way to chat. total user created 3D worlds and
totally infinetely customizable Avatars that you choose and or design to
represent you in world.

word of caution.

you MUST have broadband (its real timed 3d content so it can easily use
200-400kbit of bandwidth) !! cable and dsl mandatory or better.

you MUST have a decent computer (1.5g 256meg ram MINIMUM) and more important
than processor you must have a decent relatively new nvidia or ati graphics
card (gf2mx or better or ati radeon 9000 or better)

its really cool check it out !! and cheap !! one time $10 fee for life.

Unreal Tournament and the like is realtime 3D content as well, and works
fine with a 57k dial-up modem.

Is it really so advanced graphics (better than Unreal Tournament and
Quake 3) that you can't do fine with an old TNT 2?

Not to be insulting at all, but wouldn't it be easier to just set up a
chatroom on an irc network that uses ChanServ. That way everyone wouldn't
have to register and a.s.d.l-c oldtimers that knew irc could moderate the
place so you wouldnt always have to be around to "keep it going" so to
speak.
