entering in Fitday foodlog.

Mike I bought this one for $35.00
http://www.saveonscales.com/1scale.html
I'm very happy with it. The only thing I wished is tht you could
switch betwen grams and ounces while weighing something. You have to
turn the scale off and hold down the button for three seconds to
toggle it between the two measures. Then once selected put the item
back on the scale. It easily does tare weights and is attractive and
modern.

I have an Escali scale (www.escali.com) I got new off ebay. I got the
Belecco style, but in hindsight I should have gotten the Alimento
style instead - the plate tends to block the display on the Belecco.

I checked it out. Doesn't the "oversize box hold" feature work for you?

Yes, but it's far less convenient than just peeking under the plate
rim.

Mike, I went to Office Depot and got Sunbeam model # SP5 scales for
$29.95. They are made for shipping but will work great for what you need
them for. It will weigh up to 5 lb. and 2.2 kg. It weighs in increments
of 0.1 ounces and 1.0 in grams, re-balaces it's self after each use, has
a tare function, and you can switch from oz. to gr. in an instant at the
press of a button (empty or with food on it).
I bought two different brands of scales (the dial type, like you might
find at Walmart, Kmart, etc.) and when I tested them I found they
weren't as accurate as the digital ones.

I found a "buy-it-now" postal scale on eBay for about $21. With shipping it
was about $30. It can handle up to 30 pounds, which I use for shipping
things. It has a switch for ounces or grams.
Be sure to read your seller's "feedback" before bidding or buying.

I just bought a Salter Microtronic model #2006 at my local Linens n
Things. Retail was $30, but I used one of their 20% off coupons for a
pretty good deal. It measures in both grams and ounces, in 1-gram
increments up to 1 kilogram (2g after that up to 2kg) and 1/8 ounce
increments up to 5 lbs. Very easy to use, highly recommended.
It's great for measuring high-impact foods, such as cheese and nuts.
I wish I had bought one long ago.
