Can someone explain the difference to me between protein and fat? I know
that must sound dumb but I know steak is protein but it also is fat, am I
wrong?  Just like nuts  are protein but there is alot of fat in them.
Thanks..

Protein
A large molecule composed of one or more chains of amino acids in a
specific order; the order is determined by the base sequence of
nucleotides in the gene that codes for the protein. Proteins are
required for the structure, function, and regulation of the body's
cells, tissues, and organs; and each protein has unique functions.
Examples are hormones, enzymes, and antibodies.

Both animal tissue and plant tissue contain proteins.

1. fat -- (a soft greasy substance occurring in organic tissue and
consisting of a mixture of lipids (mostly triglycerides); "pizza has too
much fat")
2. adipose tissue, fat, fatty tissue -- (a kind of body tissue
containing stored fat that serves as a source of energy; adipose tissue
also cushions and insulates vital organs; "fatty tissue protected them
from the severe cold")

Most animal tissue contains fat, and some plants do too (avacados, for
instance contain fat, as does flaxseed).

Most foods are some combination of fat, protien and/or carbohydrate.
