I was wondering how to make this.  I was thinking just heavy whipping cream
and chicken broth and mushrooms.  What else would make this good?  Thank
you.

It could be so fatty as to be nauseating. Or, the cream could get
sour. Give it a try in small quantity.

Sautee onions slowly in butter until they're limp.  Add thinly sliced
mushrooms and cook until they're limp, too.  Season with salt and
pepper.  Add in warmed milk or chicken stock with cream.  Season to
taste.  Enjoy!

I sautee onion, celery, and garlic in butter for all my soups and crock pot
recipes.  It adds a very nice flavor.

Gadzooks!   That approach makes recipes made with cream of
mushroom soup sound palatable!
