Man, this is a very tough time for a me. I am a bagpiper and am doing
parties and so on this past Saturday and this Wednesday and Thursday.
Guinness is being poured and I am drinking it. It is just too hard not to.
I will have to go back on Induction levels for a week, just to get back to
my goal pace.
Oh well, this is a life style and a few days doesn't really amount to much
in the long run. I will cut loose and resume when the parties are over. I
must say, it is fun playing at parties though. I drink to take the edge off
while playing, so I somehow justify it.
Just wanted to share my hiccup in my diet. I'm on Induction today and
tomorrow, but Wednesday will be a bad night now doubt. Will be interesting
to see how much I weigh on Saturday morning. Who knows, maybe I will be
where I left off.

If you already like "light" beers, you'll be fine with the lower carb options
there. But if you don't care for them, thinking they are too "watered down",
you might want to look at something like a Guinness Stout. As odd as it seems,
draught stouts’ carbohydrate amounts don’t measure up to their mouthfeel.
Guinness draught stout contains about 4% alcohol by volume, contains about 120
calories per 12-ounce serving and has roughly 5.2 grams of carbohydrate (data
taken from Stout by Michael J. Lewis; Brewers Publications, 1995).
At least you're drinking real beer and not that watered down stuff.

Did you know they make a zero carb substitute for Guinness? It comes in
a concentrated form. Just add water to reconstitute. On the label it
says "Jameson". Sure, like any other low carb substitute it doesn't
really taste exactly the same. But after a while you can develope a
taste for the substitute.
Have enough of them and you could drop your bagpipe. Be carefull.
Or just have Guinness. At 15ish grams, a few days of detox will work.
This isn't every week, right? You're doign fine.

Well, console yourself with all the corned beef and cabbage you can
find. Or turnip if you prefer. Slather on some butter, mix up a little
sour cream and horseradish for the beef, and enjoy!

Good heavens. I hadn't even thought of the fact that tomorrow is St. P's
day. I'll need to go pick up some corned beef and cabbage tonight.
Although, having experienced the joys of sauteed cabbage, I'm not sure I
can go back to boiling it, even for the sake of tradition. Maybe some
really good butter would do the trick. <g>
