Good morning.  Still hovering at 190, 3 pounds down for the
month.

Moving into pre-maintenance so I'm intentionally slowing
down by eating a bit more.

Hi Carol Ann, I think I signed up for this month.  Well, I'd like to
unsign up!  I've been lifting weights and I'm actually gaining weight
(although my bodyfat has decreased as per my Tanita) or at least not
losing.  So, I'm finding the monthly challenge to be disappointing.
Thanks for your help, though!

???

ARe you trying to gain weight?  I don't see any reason to unsign up.  I've
seen my weight go up some months and stay the same over many months...that's
part of keeping the focus....the challenges helps keep the focus...don't
think its value is merely about losing weight...a month gone by without
weight gain is a good month!

And surely if you want to lose weight while lifting, it is just a matter of
not eating too much.

I'm only one pound down.  Nothing else so far.  Last month was like this,
too.   Nothing for three weeks then a substantial whoosh.  So, I have my
fingers crossed.

Thanks Carol Ann.
How many days til your due date??

I'll bet you are getting anxious, Carol. Good luck with it all and
I'll be waiting to hear good news from you very soon!

Holding steady here. I quit smoking and things are not what they used
to be. I've gone back to induction level today, trying to nudge things
along. I am trying to find a place with a pool to exercise. The Y's
cost is too much right now - it would be cheaper to check into a
Holiday Inn. Maybe with my $ saved from cigs I can work it out. That'd
be a great gift to myself.

The best gift you could give yourself is to never pick up another
cigarrette.  I quit January 2001 and am glad that through all of the changes
I've gone through (and there are many drastic ones), I NEVER picked up
another one!

Your metabolism will get boosted by your exercise.  Stick with it!!!

I'm very proud of you!

Current weight as of March 16th:   228 Pounds!
This is my lowest weight in over five years ,
And I've now lost 42 pounds since 12/15/2003 (three months)   :-)

I've now settled in to losing at a rate of about 1.5  pounds per week.
I found that I have to watch total calories as well as carbs, and maintain
at least a 2 to 1 ratio of fat calories to protein calories in order to
maintain this steady loss and prevent stalls.   YMMV.
Also my nutritional supplements seem to be  having a signficant impact.  My
overall health has improved tremendously.

316, 9 pounds down. I will defintely exceed goal, should have set one
higher. I will probably be able to reach 310 by end of month-

We had two decent warm days so I spent a total of eight hours out back
shoveling and working unused dirt for preparation of laying a
vegetable garden. I essentially dig up the top foot of dirt, sifted
for rocks, mixed in additives, then shovel it back in place. Still
have a large patch of lawn to dig up so next few warm days should see
my calories burned go up. Plus I'm scheduled to work several days.

I did a boo boo. I cheated over the weekend. Gained a few pounds. Now,
working hard to get back to goal. Will do it!

Learned from this period of time I cheated though.  I am really having
hunger pains in between meals. Just drinking water when it comes on.
Snacking on veggies or boiled eggs. Still thinking on eliminating
dairy completely. May do so next month, see what happens. Like a
science experiment. See if it clears up the rashes.

So, at 241 right now.

Let's not check in this week, ok?  That way I won 't have to publicly face
the poor sense of discipline and lack of will power that have so derailed me
in the last several days.

Can't wait 'till the next check-in ........ right.

Onward and downward ......

Hi, Carol Ann!

I weighed in at work this morning and I'm at 253---don't know if I'll make
my challenge this month.  I'm going to weigh in at the doctor's on Friday
since the scales there weigh lighter, at least they did when I had my
physical a couple of weeks ago.  I gave up eating nuts (just couldn't keep
from only eating a few at a time!) so I know that's helped me lose a few
pounds.

How are you doing?  How much longer till the baby?

Hi, Linda!

My estimated due date is this Monday.  Woo-hoo!  I guess I'm ready now.  I
just want to move forward to the next phase of my life.

I hope it's as wonderful as the rest of my life has been!

Thank you for asking!

By the way, nuts have been known to cause a slow down in weightloss in
many-a-lowcarber!

Carol Ann, I am so happy for you! The next phase of your life will be
wonderful!
(All three of my boys were late coming, like 2 weeks from the
estimated time of delivery, so keep that in mind)  :)

I figured it out too, the nuts do slow some down. I cannot stop at
just a handful of macadamia or almond nuts. So not buying them
anymore. I also think I am having allergic reactions to dairy. So
eliminating that next week, just to see what happens.

I weighed myself again this morning. Back down to 237-238 again. Took
only a few days after cheating to get back to the before cheating
weigh. So yippee!!

:)

Oh, wah.  I'm up 9 pounds to 297 - I guess I wasn't completely
rehydrated after all.  I'm about to start water retention
again (my boobies hurt something fierce), so we'll see what
the end of the month brings.  Do you know what?  I have
never been so regular in my cycle as since I started
lowcarbing.  The predictability is nice, but the increased
frequency does not have my good housekeeping seal of
approval.   :)

Weight jumped up a few over the weekend. It usually does. But the highs are
getting lower. So 267 for the 16th.
I'm sending this on the 18th and am 264 this morning.
I'll take the 267 and see if I settle in at 264 over the next few days.

Thanks Carol Ann.

Agh! I haven't checked in!

I'm down to 223, which isn't bad I suppose.  Finding it very hard to
stay on plan, I keep wanting to snack and can't quite put my finger on
why.

I guess I'm back.  I have to come up with a current want.  Hard to do with a
scale that gives different numbers every time.  Maybe if I weigh 80 times
and take an average...
