It depends on what plan your are following.  (Atkins, South Beach, CAD,
Sugar Busters, Protein Power, etc.).  Read the book for the plan you are
following -- surely you will find your answer -- then come back and tell us
what you found.  There are way too many variables for ayone to answer a
question like that without knowing what plan you are following, what stage
you are in, what your current weight is, how close to your target weight,
etc.

They aren't the lowest carb veges out - certainly not for induction.  But
they are acceptable after induction, as long as you count the carbs.  Try
this site: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl  It's very
good for seeing the carb counts of many foods.

Not particularly, but I eat small quantities of both on a fairly
regular basis. There are lots of foods that are medium carb but don't
bother me (coffee, for instance) in small quantities. Basically, not
all carbs are the same, and it also makes a difference what other
foods you eat at the same time.

Onions are lower glycemic raw than they are cooked (same with carrots,
only more so).  The tomato is one of the very few foods that is more
nutritious cooked than raw.

REALLY?  I did not know that and I'm happy to hear it.  I do miss a nice
fresh tomato sauce.  I've been keeping the tomatoes at bay.  Haven't had
much of any since starting.  I've been thinking of adding a small amount
slowly now and see what happens.

My recommendation for a great egg breakfast is:
1 tomato, sliced up and fried with olive oil and a bit of salt.  (I prefer
to slice the tomato while holding it over the frying pan, so I don't lose
any of its natural juices on the chopping board.)  Reduce to the consistency
of your choice.
Then add the eggs to the frying pan and cook how you like them.  YUM.

That's just what you need. Add more carby stuff to your diet. It's not like
you're grossly overweight or anything.

Most of us probably aren't in danger of eating too little. :)

If you lost some weight, I might actually start believe that you're human.

Cooking releases the bound lycopene in the tomato.  However, it is a
bit carby, so be careful with your portions.

A few slices of tomato are only a few carbs, but tomato sauces are
concentrated tomato cooked down, and tends to be carby.

But you usually don't use a whole lot.  FitDay gives  18 less 3 fiber, net
15 carbs for 1 cup of tomato sauce.  That's a lot of tomato sauce.

just count the carbs in them.

www.nutritiondata.com
FOB - 17 Mar 2004 19:18 GMT
They are medium carb, okay in modest amounts.  A 3 inch diameter tomato has
8 grams of carb of which 2 are fiber.  A large onion has 13 grams, 3 of
fiber.  Green onions, 1 cup chopped have 7 grams, fiber 3.
