I measured at first too, but eventually got tired of it. I get a
handful of salad and stick it on a plate with whatever meat I am
having. Lots of times the meat ends up being ate mixed in the salad. I
just put small amounts of other things like tomato, cheese, bacon
bits, cucumber ham, etc.. added to it. It works for me.
I also blend different lettuce and spinach together, and put them into
large ziplocks. Iceberg, spinich and romaine. Easier to deal with at
dinner time. Kids take turns setting it all out, then putting it away
after dinner.
They take turns too, chopping and slicing and storing it in the fridge
too. Helps out on getting myself overloaded with so much to do.
I figured out in my head (maybe not a great idea) That with the
lettuce, along with salad dressing... Around 3-5 carbs?

Well, according to fitday, 5 cups of romaine has less than 2 carbs after you
subtract fiber. Hence, imo, it's not work counting.....and when you think
about it, since eating a lot of it provides some fiber, it just ought to be
a free food.

It's considered a free food on my diet. That's one food I don't
measure - I eat a ton of lettuce. With all those nutrients (we're not
talking iceberg here) fiber in it, I don't understand the logic in
limiting intake. Low cal, high fiber - an ideal food.

I weigh all my ingredients (or, in the case of cherry tomatoes, for instance,
count them), add them all up, then divide by the number of servings. As long as
it fits into my daily carb budget, it works for ME.
