90 lbs down, time for some pictures

Ningi - 19 Mar 2004 17:58 GMT Well, it's taken a while, but I finally feel I can post some pictures. I've been motivated by what many people in this group have achieved, and the support and information available.
There are 2 pictures from about a year ago, and two from today. They represent 90 lbs of weight loss, leaving me about 20 lbs to go.
I REALLY don't like looking at the pictures from last year, mind you, I'm looking pretty dorky in one of the pictures today :)

Cheers, and thanks!

I've got a bit of loose skin round the stomach, which isn't wonderfully attractive. I'm planning on doing a few exercises - apart from the cycling - and see what it's like in a years time. But even if it doesn't improve much, loose skin is much better than another 90 lbs to keep it tight, right?
Cheers!

Just wondering since your starting point looks a bit like were I am now.
Still very very inspirational and a very great job

DG511 - 19 Mar 2004 18:44 GMT Wow -- you look great, Pete! Congrats on losing so much, and on working so hard to get there.
These before and after pictures are always so interesting, because of the different ways people carry their weight. Yours appeared to be almost entirely in your mid-section, which is now lean.
Good going!

emkay - 19 Mar 2004 23:24 GMT Very nice, Pete. It's these kinds of pictures that make it startlingly clear how it's possible for someone who has lost a lot of weight to just not be recognized at all by someone they haven't seen in a while -- your face looks like a totally different person between the first and last pictures.

It's going to be interesting determining what my final weight should be as I don't think 183 will be my end game. I could end up around 175 as you are targetting but that might be a stretch for me. We'll see.

A cyclist! > Way to go. Don't you find getting up those hills is a bit easier, now? I have just returned from 3 weeks in Boulder, CO on holiday. Did a fair bit of cycling, including a 2000 ft climb a few times, and I didn't find a hill I couldn't cycle up. When I was cycling in New Zealand last year, I was pushing the bike up most hills. I guess 150lbs less to carry (weight loss, plus touring luggage) makes a BIG difference.
That's a long winded way of saying 'yes' :)

Pat - 22 Mar 2004 15:38 GMT > We have hills in Dallas!? LOL, I've lived here for four years and have yet to > find one! > > LCing since 12/01/03- Listen, while I was doing the 100K at the Chili Pepper ride in south Dallas last year, the route went up part of Cedar Hill. There were people standing and sitting on the side of the road, panting, and others walking their bikes up. I was so proud that I made it up without stopping even if I was in the third chain ring granny gear and that armadillo passed me. Of course, I was barely alive, but when you reach the top, you can coast down. That was scary, too, because I reached up to 35 MPH going down. At that speed, every speck on the rock looks like a boulder and you start to look for soft places to land on the side of the road--just in case. Near the end of the ride, after 42 miles, there was a loop to be taken for the 100K route, and at the previous rest stop, I heard many people telling each other to ignore the loop and just finish the ride. I thought, "Hey, I paid for 100K and I'm going to do 100K!" When I got to the loop turn off, there was only 1 person ahead of me. As it turned out, evidently the two of us were the only ones doing the loop. Down the street and around the corner to the right---and it was the same d@#$n hill again! It wasn't the smartest move of my life nor the most pleasant. I overheated and had to stay 20 minutes at the final rest stop before I could do the home stretch back to the rec center...I nearly passed out at the rest stop and the EMT people were circling like vultures.
So, take your bike and check out the area around Lake Joe Pool that goes toward Cedar Hill.
