So, my husband is back from his business trip to the Carolinas, and he
brought me two six-packs of diet Cheerwine.

Made with splenda.

*happy sigh*

It's a soda that tastes to me sort of like cherry cream soda.  I don't
know what the official flavor is.  Yummy.

Hi Nancy -- if you want a splenda-sweetened cherry-flavored diet soda
that's available a little closer to home, you could try out the Hansen's
diet black cherry soda.  It's available at Trader Joe's, and at some other
Mass grocery stores.   (It might not taste like Cheerwine [which I've never
had, so I can't say], but it might be good enough to tide you over in
between your husband's trips down south :-)

Thank you - I've actually met that, and it's good, too.  Not cheerwine,
but good.  Aside from that, I was just pleased he remembered me whilst
he was gone ;-)

In the late 1800s and early 1900s MANY types of soda were invented.
Some are still popular: Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Mt Dew, etc.  Many
went out of business.  Cheerwine was never popular outside of the
Carolinas and it has survived as a small obscure brand to this day.

Cheerwine is mostly cherry flavored, and not nearly as sweet as
Coke or 7-up.  Diet Cheerwine seems to use under half as much
splenda as Diet Rite to achieve that lower sweetness level.

I lived in Raleigh, NC for a year and it is one of the things I
miss from there.  That and Eastern NC BBQ.

Ah yes I love Cheerwine. It has no offical flavor btw. It's just Cheerwine.
Great stuff. Diet Cheerwine also taste almost exactly like regular Cheerwine
so it's just an added bonus of being a great product. I know a good deal of
the product is bottled in a small town called Clover, S.C. and I belive you
can order it directly. If you would like I could talk to a friend of mine
who works with the company to find out details about it.

It is in fact a southern drink as is sundrop.
Mixes well with a touch of rum.

Single malt scotch is awesome (NO it does NOT have carbs as DON'T vodka,
gin, rum, bourbon, etc generally)
Malt can be made low carb through the judicious use of yeast.
Low carb beer? Uh...yeah.
Read the books.
You can have more than eggs for breakfast.
Yes calories do count.
Ketosticks are not neccessary to lose weight.

Sort of like Dr. Pepper in flavor as I recall, though it's probably been 20+
years since I last had Cheerwine. :-)

Never heard of it, but I like the name. Sounds like something from "Lord of the
Rings". <g>
