I have tried a few low-carb breads and found them somewhat disappointing.
Sometimes they are lower carb just by virtue of the weight of the slice.

In my quest for a bread I liked I came across Arnold Stoneground 100% Whole
Wheat Bread (UPC 7341002250.)  It is not advertised as low carb but the net
carbs per slice is 10gms.  If this fits into your diet I recommend the bread
for flavor and texture.

1 Slice: 27g
Calories: 60
Total Fat: 0.5g
Total Carbs: 12g
   Dietary Fiber: 2g
   sugars: 2g
Protein: 3g
sodium: 130 mg

Downside: contains high fructose corn syrup.

Hope this is helpful,
Kevin

I just bought some low carb bread made by The Baker company.  About 4 carbs
per oz. works out to be about a slice.  Very taste, though expensive.  I
found it in the store, but they do have a web site for sales also.  I think
the label said www.the-baker.com

Try looking at the store brand breads that are advertised as "light". Many
are low carb, very good and not expensive. The Publix brands here in Florida
are great, average 6-7 grams per slice.

The bread I buy is the same size as regular bread but much lower in carbs.
If you don't like bread, don't buy it. FTR, who cares if bread is smaller
anyway? Smaller portions of any carb product are lower in carbs as well as
calories:)

Most of us probably aren't in danger of eating too little. :)

The bread I like best is Natures Own Light Honey Wheat, 7 grams effective
carbs per normal slice:) I am on maintenance and usually have about 4 slices
a day. I use about 75 grams of carbs a day. Also enjoy tortillas. If you
look for higher fiber products in your supermarket, they will be lower in
carbs too. I use fat free LaBanderita soft flour tacos from Wal-Mart that
are 8 grams carb per tortilla. They make dandy crusts for a low carb
personal pizza. Load it with a couple tablespoons low carb pizza sauce, lots
of cheese, crumbled sausage, peppers and mushrooms and dive in. I have also
made them ahead of time with pepperoni and frozen them.

FTR, my 3 year old like the low carb bread too so it doesn't sit around
long:)

effective carbs is crap when you're comparing it to regular bread. how
many TOTAL carbs does it have? And isn't it going a bit far to feed a
3 year old low carb bread?

Why?  Feeding him something low in sugar and refined grains is bad?  Why
is effective carbs bad?  If the bread is 7 effective carbs per slice,
that's 14 per sandwich.  Certainly something that can be managed.

I am going to take a road trip to this place, to get some yummies for
a special occasion (not normal fare, especially since I am back on
induction for a bit)

The Mountain Bread looks like it might be worth a try. They ship as
well.
