I saw some Tofu made by banyan foods at HEB.  It said 0 carbs for the firm
and like 2 for the soft.

Is this right?   I would have thought bean curd was packed with carbs.

Tofu is fairly low in carbs. The zero count, though, must be for an
estimated serving size that is a very small part of the package. :)

You can go to

http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl

and enter "tofu" to get the exact data on different kinds.

100 gm of typic firm tofu has just 145 calories, 4.28 total carbs, 2.3 grams
of fiber so just about 2 net carbs. So it is a good diet food, overall.

Packages here in Tokyo are typically sold in 200 gm or 400 gm sizes. Not
sure about there.

I should point out that as far as low-carb, low-calorie dieting is
concerned, even though you may want tofu for variety, boneless breast of
chicken is even better for weight loss - just 110 calories per 100 gm and
zero carbs!

The serving size is 3 oz.  5 servings per package.  The package says 0
carbs.

3 oz = 85g, USDA doesn't list one for 85, but does for 90.
which is 1.5g carbs for firm, and the same for soft.

The firm label is incorrect.  Count them both as 2g per 3 oz serving.

USA Today has come out with a new survey: Apparently three out of four
people make up 75 percent of the population.
