I am buying some things from netrition.com. I know people say the La
Tortilla's are good but I also saw Mama Lupe's which they sell. Do most
people like the La Tortilla better? Has anyone tried the Mama Lupe's. I
have Touyafan which I bought in the grocery store, and it is a little
rubbery in my opinion.
Thanks.

I've only tried the La Tortilla versions. I like them, but my roommate
said they were "inedible."

I've tried both and like both. I try to buy the mama lupes because they
have fewer calories but are also smaller. Both are a little rubbery but I
don't mine -- some cheese or canadian bacon inside works for me as a quick,
light, low carb, low cal, breakfast or a pre-workout meal.

I really dig the La Tortilla, but I've not yet had a chance to try any of
the others.

Consistency is a big issue with a lot of bready stuff. It is going to
be a compromise no matter how good the product is in my mind. The La
Tortilla are good enough--the smell is a little odd to me--though I
don't think about them being rubbery. Though you're probably right,
since they don't flake and split as easily as some flour tortillas do.
Just don't buy a lot of any brand until you get a chance to test them.
Low carb products tend to last a long time for me (single). A loaf of
bread lasted five weeks until I threw the last slices away. One
because of carb counts, two because they aren't as good as the real
thing and I just want them less--honestly.
Overall, any *LOWER* carb food by a real company tastes better (to me)
and is cheaper than a *ZERO* or *LOWER* carb product by a
diet-specialty company.

I've only eaten the Mama Lupe and find them quite tasty. The first LC store
in our are opened just a couple of weeks ago and that's the only tortilla
brand they have. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

why can't we come up with a decent recipe for low carb tortillas ?
can't be that difficult, my Latino friends would think me pathetic !

Gracie,
Hola. I am Puertorrican but I love Mexican food. Before I was LCing I
made my own tortillas. Now I preffer to buy them because I can't find
a good recipe. Or maybe because I am lazy and have not tried
experimenting with them. In any case, I do not eat LC processed
product that frequently. Last time I ordered some LC tortillas was
like 3 months ago. They were La Tortilla Factory, I believe and were
OK.
When I want something crunchy I prepare some spring roll wraps. I buy
them at my local asian market. They are paper thin and about 4-6
grams of Carbs each (depending on the size). You put a tablespoon of
olive oil on a pan and put the sheet, in a matter of seconds it cooks
and gets really crunchy.
