Hello ...

Has anyone tried the shake mix sold at the Curves fitness centers?

If so, how is it for taste?

Many thanks for any information.

I have, it's OK. I wouldn't say wonderful, but better than some others I've
tried. Their liquid multi vitamin is really good (not the taste though) but
it's really expensive.

I bought a bottle of their liquid vitamin and didn't like it much.
And, no one at my local Curves could explain to me why it contained
arsenic...that's right, arsenic.

I prefer a liquid vitamin and found one that I really like and I find
to be much more palatable than the Curves one (in fact, I really like
the taste of it)., It's called "Liquid Health" - incredibly complete,
just a few carbs per serving.

I drink one every day - chocolate flavor only. The vanilla was nasty.

I think it tastes fine - nothing fantastic, but very palatable. I'd
even call it kind of yummy in a vitamin pill-ish kind of way.

Nutritionally, I think it's pretty good. Sometimes, I'll buy the low
carb milk and mix it with that, but for some reason it doesn't mix as
well as with real milk. You can flavor it up a bit - add a splash of
almond extract or some coffee, for variety.

That's funny, because I liked the vanilla better. Then again, I'm not a big
chocolate person. Some people mixed the two together and it was reportedly very
good.

Hi Linda,

I have not tried the shake as when I inquired to the carb content, it
was way higher than I wished to go. It may be good, but if I remember
correctly the carb content was well over 10 gr per servings which
wouldn't help me at all.

If you find different please let us know.

Thanks!

Well, as far as the carb count goes, I guess it is pretty high. But,
as part of the Curves Diet, one shake a day is considered a "free
food". How it would fit into other LC diets, I'm not sure. Our diet
guru at Curves basically said that the carbs would have little impact
on things, counteracting with the rest of the shake ingredients.
Whatever the reasoning (and I'm pretty sure she really didn't have the
answer, either), having a shake a day never seemed to have an impact
on me - ketostix still indicated ketosis.

For me a shake (Curves or another) is a great breakfast - I don't have
a huge appetite in the morning, and I don't have a lot of time to
prepare something. So, this is fast, packed with nutrients, and
sustains me until my mid-morning snack (4oz. cottage cheese and 2
strawberries).

I am not surprised that the diet guru was vague.

Good info, thanks.

No, but Slim-fast have 2 low-carb protien shakes (Creamy Chocolate and
Vanilla Cream) that have 2g net carbs.  It get's it the healthly way,
by adding fiber!  The Vanilla Cream has 7g total carbs, 5g fiber, and
2g sugar.  The Creamy Chocolate has 8g total carbs, 6g fiber, and 2g
sugar.  Both have 20g protein.

The Chocolate taste great.  I have not tried the vanilla.
