I'm working in a hospital these days (modernizing the elevators) They had
set up a nutritional information booth next to the Cafeteria I asked the
dietician what she thought of Low Carbing ?...First response was "its bad "
balanced meals are best .
I asked what about weight loss ? She said she didn't know much about it
...then she referred to some articles in one of Canada's most respected
national papers ...about Folic acid ( I didn't know what she meant ) she
went on to say how the articles reported that Low Carbing caused spinal
difida in pregnant women . I asked her to e-mail this info .Havent heard
from her yet so I looked it up ...All I found was this .

I can't believe educated people are lapping this up .
In the 10 weeks I have been Low Carbing I have not found one single
substanciated complaint about this way of dieting ...I'm like a reformed
smoker ..I want to convert everybody ...at least get them informed
....sheesh

Hi Peter
You may be interested to know that even Atkins advised pregnant women not to
do the LC plan. I'm not sure about lactating women though.

The reason for that is that Atkins believes that ketones
cause you not to be hungry/. If a nursing mother is in
ketosis, she will pass ketones to the baby through her
milk. So Atkins recommends that nursing mothers
should eat enough carbs that they do not go into ketosis.
