With exercise and 1700 cals/day I'm wanting to set a goal of 2.5 lbs / week.

I realize this may be unrealistic.

I'd appreciate it if any successful, long-term losers would chime in with
how their weekly weight loss goal coincided with actual realized loss.

Thanks,

Mike

When I was  losing, I was  losing 3.5 lbs per week. This year, being
at normal weight, I lose about 1 lb per month, a rate that I am
satisfied with.

The fewer calories from carbs, the more you'll lose.

That would be nice if it were true, but unfortunately, it's not.
Eat too much low-carb food, and you won't lose anything.

Ketostix can't tell the difference between ketones from bodyfat
and ketones from dietary fat.

Also, keep your carb level too low and you run the risk of dropping
your leptin output to almost nothing.  Leptin seems to be key to fat
loss.

You don't say how much exercise.....I weigh about the same as you and 2.5
lbs is still hard, and I workout a LOT.  But I'm a good bit taller than you
and lively have more LBM, too.

Very definitely....

Yes, it does when I do everything right. Control eating, weight train, and
do lots of cardio.

I suggest you shoot for 1.5 lbs / week.  You'll be happier and you'll feel
successful.
