I use HealthKick which is sorta like the Fitday and im suprised at just
how many weird things come up on a food search in that also, and how
many raw meats NO ONE should or would eat raw come up. I am not sure
why they do that either but it seems strange to me that one would need
so many raw calorie counts on meat.

Well, sometimes, like when you're making a recipe using a lot of different
ingredients, it makes sense to enter those ingredients in their raw form.
When you're making soup, for example, it's a lot easier to measure the raw
ingredients seperately when you start than to measure them cooked when it's
all soup. If I make creamed spinach, it's a heck of a lot easier to
measure the raw spinach first and then cook it, rather than look at it
cooked and try to figure out how much spinach is in the goop.

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

Chicken Roasting Giblets Raw don't fall into that catagory.
For example heart & liver are different values, & liver contains carbs,
heart doesn't. Stomach is different again.
But this was only a secondary point. My frustration with Fitday is that
when I ask for roast chicken I get raw giblets way ahead of getting
roast chicken - it doesn't make any sense.
BTW - cool site, I visited it tonight.

I take it to mean that if you weigh/measure the meat raw, those are the figures
to use, even after it's cooked. At least that's how *I* use the info.

Lily,
How are you liking HealthKick? I haven't installed it yet because I've been
using Fitday, but it seems to claim to be as good as Fitday PC but for
free...

I like it a lot actually and free was what I was looking for I honestly
couldnt see paying for software that might not work for me. At the end
of each days summary or on the calendar it shows the net calories for
the day. The food list seems a tiny bit limited but I have not used
another product and I have been inserting "seems close to this as
possible" at times. I broke a stall with it though by using it for two
weeks to see what I might be doing to cause the stall. The only
drawback for me is pilates isn't listed in the excersizes lol, I have to
put something "close to it". I would recommend it if someone didn't
want to pay for fitday just to find they do not use it certainly, being
that its free and a good way to see if you might use a program like it.

Sure I can.....I found it looking for a free program on google to
keep track of my excersize/food intake. From the site I got it from:
"Health Kick is free for personal use. If however you would like to help
support Health Kick and get extra features too, you can upgrade to Health
Kick Professional..........Can I really use Health Kick for free?
Yes, Health Kick can be used for personal use completely for free, no
strings attached.
If you like using the software you can choose to upgrade to Health Kick
professional. Upgrading supports our work and enables us to keeping
improving the software. " I am using it in the free version mode.
The link to download it is here : http://www.portable-
software.com/download/hk/Downloads.htm
It has a summary for each day that tells me my net calories for the
day meaning my caloric intake minus my exersize for the day. It charts all
this on a calendar and if I click each day it has a summary available for
the day I clicked so I can see the trends, ie. am I eating too much
exersizing too little etc. I also weighed in when I installed it and put
in my measurements and I have put in two more since then, you can see
charts of inches lost or weight lost or caloric daily totals etc. I wasnt
sure I would like it but it seems to be a great little program so far, and
it helped me take a good look at why I was stalled. Each day will show you
a breakdown of nutritional intake on a pie chart and by a mg. USDA, for me
this is inacurate as I take a multivitamin I cannot find a place to enter
so I for the most part ignore that all but the fiber.
Personally for me I didnt want to pay for Fitday and need a rant
about how I wasted the $20 for it, or that I did not like it (no offense to
anyone that ranted LOL) so I found a free one.

Does it track carbs, %carbs/%fat/%protein/ and/or net carbs?
Thanks BTW,

Yes it tracks carbs but not NET carbs no, but as I said about some foods im
using "close enough to" it does give a # for all of that though. Thats
where the pie chart is it not only has mg. counts but it has the pie chart
to let you know % of daily totals made up of what.
