Hey everyone,
Well 40 down and still counting. I've returned to the gym on a regular
basis and it's been great. All of my old friends are still there and
welcomed me back. It was very cool to see them and get back into my routine.
There are about 20 of us that get there at 5 when the gym opens. No problem
getting on the equipment. I'm easing back into things but I was surprised at
how I can still lift at about the same weight, although failure comes pretty
quickly. I do super-slow at 4-8 reps and have generally hit the 4 goal.
I have been finding this WOE scarily easy. I have no real cravings that
can't be met with lo-carb foods. The scale doesn't lie but I keep expecting
to wake up as from a dream and find I've gained it all back overnight. My
one fear is that I may have to have another back surgery and that's what got
me where I am in the first place. Hospital food sucks and they feed you like
you're on a cruise ship. You finish breakfast and it seems like a few
minutes later they come around with a snack cart full of muffins and fruit
and other carby things. Oh well. I'll cross that bridge...
Well we're off to the Napa Valley to enjoy the sun! Have a good one all.

Congrats on the success Bear.
Do you have an idea as to your daily calorie and carb intake?

Hey cool! Me neither. For me it's all about foods I'll either eat or
not eat. Keeps it uncomplicated.

Right CM. I always know when I'm eating crap.

That's so interesting. For me, rather than "keeping me uncomplicated" I
would have to call that "keeping me fat."
I don't deny that there are people who can lose or maintain without counting
calories - but it's such an alien concept for that it's hard for me to get
my mind around. There is such a disconnect between hunger and eating for
me - maybe after years of careful restriction I could reprogram this, but I
am so not there yet.

I've found it quite easy too, even though after the initial 15# I stalled
for 6 weeks. Recently, I've lost 2#. I would've given up during the stall,
but had no cravings. The carb cravings were terrible before and I'm glad to
be rid of them!!!
Bear - 29 Mar 2004 13:39 GMT
Hey LJ,
Even though I've indulged in a littel whining now and then, this has been
the easiest diet I've been on. Which is why it has become a way of life on
not a diet. I love that the cravings disappear.

Thanks Saffy. Just following your lead. I thought of you last night when I
rubbed my face and suddenly realized my face felt thinner. I had a Saffy
