South Beach : Phase II - cheating consequences?

Hello all,

I'm on Phase II of this diet and had a severe cheat this weekend as it was
my birthday. I think that as a result, I'm feeling extremely tired and have
had some discomfort today.

I'm curious as to others stories of the consequences of a cheat. What kinds
of cheats were they, how did they affect you afterward (ie extreme pain, bad
stuff when you go the bathroom).

Does an extreme bodily reaction mean I've effectively reversed some sort of sugar
addiction and am now throwing a terrible wrench into it?

I'd appreciate your replies,

Lhontas

Hi Lhontas,

Well personally, I don't subscribe to the whole cheating philosophy. What
you've described sounds like life to me. Yesterday I went to the Napa Valley
for the day. We did some wine tasting and had a picnic. I ate a few crackers
(10) during the tastings, ate a piece of very decadent chocolate offered to
me. I love chocolate and red wine together. Had a little too much LC bread
at the picnic. I'm not stressed over it. It's back to normal eating today. I
felt bloated this morning, and the scale is up 2 pounds. By Wednesday
everything will be normal again and I'll probably drop some weight this
week. You can't undo everything in one day of indulgence. If you keep it up
all week, then you need to worry. Just focus on getting back on track today
and don't worry. And Happy Birthday!

Hey thanks, I'm still not feeling so good. I think I really overdid it. I'm
back on phase I this week to clean out my system!

One thing to consider when you react like that to cheating is the
possibility of gluten sensitive enteropathy.  I found out about mine the
same sort of way - reached goal and had a pizza followed by pain and
abdominal discomfort and etc.

Note that it is possible to have the sensitivity without having full blown
celiac disorder.  Pretty much a matter of degree.
