So I guess they've gotten better over the years?

I haven't had one of those is, like, ten years. I've never seen them
since I moved to Oregon. As I recall, the flavor was somewhat akin to
burnt cardboard.

I'm sure this is the first Canfields I've ever had. I loved it ! (very
sweet)
Many many years ago I recall drinking a WeightWatchers chocolate soda.
