Kate Dicey - 17 Jun 2004 23:34 GMT Not so bad today...
Breakfast: Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and milk (bigger bowl): 4 points
Lunch: Cold meat sandwich with tomato: 4 points salad: 0 points
Dinner: Chicken Tikka Masala (WW recipe) and rice: 6.5 points Salad: 0 points 2 WW snack bars
Total 18.5 Walking: 2.5 Result: :)
Good: clawed back yesterday's 2.5 over-run, and still have 3 points for a late night snack.
Weigh-In was good to me too: another pound gone! I hit my mini-goal of 40 lbs gone, and now have 1.5 pounds to go to get my next Silver Seven and a whole 3 stone gone forever!
The chicken Tikka Masala was very easy to make and tastes excellent.

If it doesn't help the weight loss, at least it's toning the muscles, and it IS an exercise I can do and enjoy, even with fibro, and tendinitis in my shoulders and arms!

I finally got around to forcing myself to get some new bras and underwear - boy did the saleswoman and I have a grand time. My daughter said she never heard so many giggles in an underwear store before. <g> Most of the conversation went something like, *I need a size L (underwear)* ... *no you don't, you need a small* ... *are you nuts lady? I am not a small* ... *trust me you need a small* ... *I can't buy a small* ... *why can't you buy a small* ... *cuz my daughter wears a small, will never figure out who's undies are who's* ... *ok, get a medium*. So off I go, shaking my head at the crazy lady who thinks this big ol' butt will fit into a medium. I return from the dressing room, she asks how they fit, I tell her to quit feeling so smug ... they were fine. <sigh> When will I ever see myself as I appear to be? And on the bra front, unbelieveable to me ... originally a *god knows what size I was, I stopped looking*, think I stopped trying them on at about 42DD, just kept wearing the stretched out, torn apart old ones. Imagine my surprise after trying on tons of these things ... to find out I am a 36B.
I also bought a few tight knit tank type tops, that have the built in shelf bra - for working out in. Majorly comfy!!! And to my surprise once again, size medium fit like it is made for me. All in all, a grand day.

[quoted text clipped - 43 lines] > > Joyce Yay! Great NSV's there! I don't know whether to be pleased or cross that I went down from a 36F (measured 43"! spilled and bulged out of those bras, couldn't bring myself to buy a 38F!) to a 34 F (now measure 38.5", but you can SEE I have a narrow ribcage).
I made a friends giggle madly last night. She and I got to WW together (she lost 3 lbs - I'm delighted for her), and she came back for supper. I'd got this tiny little table in the living room. When she asked where it came from, I said, Oh, it came free with me new knickers! So did the top and trousers I wore yesterday - one of those free gifts the catalogues hand out periodically, for impossible small people. It was labeled M and fits perfectly! :)

Lesanne - 18 Jun 2004 21:08 GMT Yes grand day. The last time I was in a store with a saleswoman who actually worked, you know? I was picking up some size medium knit capri suit things, and wondering if I could squeeze into them or should I choose a size large, and she says "OH NO, that is going to be WAY too big, get the small!" So I tell her, no, I like my clothes loose, not fitted, and she says well "that medium is going to hang on you" but I got it anyway, and it did........

I recently had to return two blouses I had purchased, didn't listen or take advice and bought a size L (I was leaning towards the XL but gave into the L). Got home, tried them on and way too big. Had to go back for the M. Maybe if I'd stop being so boneheaded, I could save myself a lot of work. <g>

Congrats on the 40 pounds! I just need to get back down to my 40-pound mark (which is pretty much goal for me).
Could you post the recipe for the Chicken Tikka Masala, please? DH and I just came back from an Indian buffet and I bet yours is a damn sight healthier then the one there!

Kate Dicey - 20 Jun 2004 00:17 GMT >>Weigh-In was good to me too: another pound gone! I hit my mini-goal of >>40 lbs gone, and now have 1.5 pounds to go to get my next Silver Seven [quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > > Betsey This is a WW recipe, and very good. It serves 4 people.
2 tablespoons tikka masala paste (I use Pataks) 150g tub 0% fat Greek yoghurt 450g/1 lb skinless boneless chicken breasts, cut into chunks 1 teaspoon or a few sprays of vegetable oil 1 red onion, sliced finely 1 teaspoon grated fresh root ginger 400g can chopped tomatoes 150 ml/5 fl oz chicken stock 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander (cilantro)
a chunk of cucumber, diced finely
Reserve a tablespoon of the yogurt to go with the cucumber, and put the rest in a non metallic bowl with the tikka masala paste. Combine well and add the chicken. Coat all the chicken thoroughly and set aside to marinate for at least an hour - over night is good!
When ready to cook, spray a large nonstick frying pan with the oil and fry the onion until golden. Add the marinated chicken mixture and the ginger. Cook for about 5 minutes, on a medium heat, stirring every minute or so...
Add the stock and the tomatoes, and stir in the coriander. When it comes through the boil, turn down to a simmer and cook for about 25 minutes.
While it's simmering, cook the rice. Basmati rice takes about 10 minutes to cook, so I usually put the water on for it about ten minutes into the cooking time, so they are ready together.
Stir the diced cucumber into the rest of the yogurt, and set aside...
If you allow 2 oz of uncooked rice per person, the whole lot makes 4 servings at 6.5 per serving. Without rice, the recipe makes 13.5 points. If you are not a rice fan, serve with naan bread instead, or millet makes a nice change, but I don't remember the points for that. Somewhere I have a WW recipe for naan bread. Serve in a wide shallow bowl with a dollop of cucumber on the side.
This is quite a mild dish.
This recipe is a slight adaptation of the one in 'Around The World In 65 Recipes', by Sue Ashworth. Hers calls for 3.5 oz of rice between 4 people, which isn't even two standard portions, but has no suggestion of what to eat with it to top up the carbs! I have to make sure DH gets his carbs, and my son needs his too, as a growing lad. I also function better with a decent portion of carbs. I like brown rice with it, which takes longer to cook, but you can always just pop a lid on the chicken so it doesn't dry out. The extra 15 minutes cooking time does it no harm, so long as the heat is really low.
It freezes well, except for the cucumber bit!

Betsey Reed - 21 Jun 2004 01:35 GMT Thanks! I'm going to be on the lookout this week for nonfat Greek yogurt at a gourmet store, so this is timely! We like the rice with it, but also have found a very nice naan recipe for the breadmaker (unfortunately haven't calculated the points for that). Guess we shouldn't have both, huh? ;)
