Can I buy the kit without joining WW?
I am a 45 YOM who has spent the better part of the last 4 plus years on and
off of some form of Atkins.  My start weight was 312 and I got down to 232.
That's when I stopped.  Well, of course, most of it has come back.  I have a
difficult time breathing-a combination of weight and stress-my clothes are
all tight and I look like, well, s**t.  On top of all this, I don't feel
good, no energy.

I have a good friend who's wife is on WW and she has lost about 25 lbs and
is looking good.  I just don't wnat to be a member.

TIA,
BillG

You can join WW online and get all the stuff that you would get in meetings.
I am a real WW fan, managed to finally get to a "normal" BMI after years and
years of trying EVERYTHING and having only partial success. Been "normal"
for a year Today, matter of fact.

All the WW details you need are available online - google will help.
Or you can buy the WW kit on ebay. Or there is WW online...

Alternatively if it worked before why not try atkins again? The
problem seemed to come when you reached 232, not in losing.

WW promotes a diet that you can stay with after losing weight, but
even so most people find it difficult to convert from losing to
maintaining. Atkins if I've read it correctly is a bit woolly about
how you maintain

Or you can DIY. Go to www.fitday.com and use it to track you current
diet for a couple of weeks. Then reduce the number of calories by
about 600/day and see what it does to your weight. Vary the number of
calories till you are losing about 1lb a week.

If you can do some exercise, then `so much the better. Start off with
a short walk every other day and work up to 30 minutes 3 times a week.
Don't overdo it.

Congratulations on deciding to lose the weight again. Good luck with
it

That is a good idea.  I have tried Atkins again, but I seem to have lost my
motivation.
I gotta get my groove back!

BTW, thanks to all who responded!  This seems to be a great group!

There is also an At-Home kit available at their website that might interest
you. You get all of the paper materials that we get at meetings plus some
other goodies. The only problem that I see with the online program is that
you don't get any hard copies of the materials. It is all online. I like
having the getting started booklet to carry with me in my purse. It is a
great reference.

Another idea is to join WW and only go for a few weeks. Then do the rest on
your own. That's what I did the first time around. I did find that I needed
the meetings to keep me motivated. Each person is different.

As an update. There are several kits for sale on eBay from this brand new
program. Look for the ones labeled 2005 program like this one:

Bill--

I bought the WW At Home kit last April.  I'm pretty sure they've updated it
now to include the new Core Program possibility that was announced over the
weekend.

The kit gave me everything I needed to do the program.  Like you, I didn't
want to go to meetings -- they just aren't for me.  I follow the FlexPoints
program and have had great success -- I'm less than 2 pounds from my second
10%.

The At Home kit is a bit pricey -- it was around $100.  I think it was worth
it.  As others have said, the WW Online program does not give you any hard
materials.  I think it's expensive for what you do get, but others are very
happy with it.

Feel free to email me with any questions at annymiddon at hotmaildotcom.
