I have a list of core foods with brand names. It was posted on an ivillage
website but seems that WW has gotten a hold of it and took the site down. I
saved it to a word document.

There are a bunch of sites that have the lists. Grab them while you can
before WW shuts everyone down. Seems the only way they want people to get
the info is to pay for it. Online people can see a lot more info than those
not paying for online access. Even the PDA is only available for those with
active eTools subscriptions. Sometimes I think that WW is only in it for the
money and not to help people.

Let me ask you this, do you think it's fair that we pay to go to our meetings
and joining fees and then someone asks for the entire list of core foods and
they get them for free? I'm not talking about general questions about the
program, I mean when someone wants entire sections of the program.
If people want to be a member of Weight Watchers and follow the program then
they should have to pay just like the rest of us.

What I object to is paying for meetings and then having to pay for eTools. I
agree with you that everyone should have to pay but we should not have to
pay twice.

Then go right now to your WW meeting and pick up their coupon for a free
trial of eTools. Download whatever you want.

WW is a commercial organization. While they may not be in it ONLY for
the money. money is going to be their primary concern. And there is
nothing wrong with that.
Axtually they aren't doing that well at the moment according to the UK
news.

WW is just another diet program. It's not a miracle or a silver bullet
that's gonna make everyone lose weight just 'cos they pay their dues -
If it was I'd be there every week :)
It's just some sensible guidelines to help Joe Public eat better, with
a weekly support group to help on the psychological side. If it works
for you then great, but there are other ways of losing weight
available on the net and elsewhere for free.
If I was to pay actual cash for help in losing weight I would use WW,
but I prefer to do things my own way rather than take WW word for it.
OTOH if I had gone with WW 2 years ago I'd probably be at target by
now,
Ray

It seems that way doesn't it. I got the trial membership to etools to get
the palm program and I really don't like it. I also found out the only way
to save your progress is on the web because the palm program only saves the
previous and current week. You cannot change the options either--you have to
do it on the web then sync with your palm.

And you'll will only be able to sync it with your palm IF you keep your
subscription to eTools. More money spent. If WW wants to spread the word
about their diet then they are doing a very money grabbing way of it.

could you print it out? Lee

Excuse me? Your naiveté is showing.
WW is a business. Of course they are trying to make money. How do you think they
pay for all the R&D that goes into the program? For example, the Core foods are
not just some feel good list of foods. They were specially chosen for, among
other things, a low abuse potential. That took R&D. And that took money.
This newsgroup is "in it to help people." WW is "in it for the money" and to
help people as well.

Just as an FYI--Dr. Phil put out a paperback book that lists pretty much the
same thing as WW (not his cookbook) as far as Core Foods go, it costs about
$5.00. I haven't compared it thouroughly but they are very close for anyone
who wants a list but doesn't want to or can't afford to have to pay for it.
