Today I ran across my old Weight Watchers program materials from 1994-1995.
Hadn't looked at these for, well, ten years or so.  The program was called
Personal Choices and we had three food plans back then; Selection Plan, Fat
& Fiber Plan, and Personal Cuisine Plan.

I have all the materials from all 10 weeks, plus all the extra handouts
(including the food companion), plus the small loose-leaf binder they went
in.   I had forgotten I had all this!  Anyone else have their old program
materials?

An egg salad sandwich was, for the Selection Plan: 5 fat, 1 1/4 protein, 1/4
vegetables, and 2 bread.  Or, if following Fat & Fiber, it was 27 fat and 1
fiber.

I'm sure glad they switched to points!

I have my old materials from 1986.  Got it out when I was looking for an
article on water that was handed out at the meeting.  I needed it for my
water project for my nutrition class.  I even found my inspiration picture
from high school in the binder too.  Showed my leader and my youngest
daughter and she was amazed at how much her older sister and I look alike at
the same time in life, right after high school.

Wow, Debbie, how did you remember where that article was after all these
years?

What was the WW program like in 1986?  I think they had moved beyond making
your own ketchup by boiling down tomato juice (if I remember correctly).

No home made ketchup back then, but you had to eat so many servings of each
food group and liver was required once a week and if I remember right fish
was required a certain number of times each week.  This is the way a typical
day went:

Daily Exchanges for Women were
Fruit 3
Vegetables at least 2
Milk 2
Bread 2
Fat 3
Protein 6

Weekly Totals
up to 4 eggs
up to 4 servings of hard cheese
up to 4 servings of beef, lamb or pork
and up to 150 optional calories

Things changed until week 4 when it stayed the same till you reached goal.
At that week  bread was increased to 2-3 servings a day and protein 6-8
servings a day with optional calories up to 550 a week.

I rejoined a few other time between then and 2000 when I started the points
plan.

I wish I had my old materials still. I hate the new point system. I'd go back
on the program if I had my old materials. I lost 274 lbs. on that program. I
loved it. Unfortunately I let myself gain a considrable amount back but if I
could find my old materials I'd go back on it. It was the easiest way for me.

Fred:  I am trying desperately to locate the Personal Choices book which
tells you what choices a food item is and the amount you are allowed to have.
I don't do well on the point program.  If you would be so kind as to give me
the details of that book so I can locate it, I would truly appreciate it.   I
would like to have the exact name, date of publication, any UPC code info
and/or any other information you feel would be helpful so I can get a copy of
the book.

If you would consider copying and/or selling the book I would be more than
happy to discuss this further.  Please respond to this email and I will then
respond to you with specific contact info.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I would kill for all of those materials.  I have done weight watchers back in
the late 1980s and joined with the later points program. I actually put on
weight with the points program but the old program worked really well for me.
Is there any chance you can email me copies of the foods etc?  or could I
purchase them from you?

All:

Is there anyone who has access to the old Level 1, 2, 3 plan materials - just
the weekly planner one-page tracker?  I am on maintenance and the Core plan
is the closest thing to it but I lost all my weight on Level 3.  Yes, I know
that qualifies me for the lifetime achievement award for sticking around on
and off longer than any of the leaders I come across but I would love to have
an old tracker.  I lost 18 lbs on Level 3 (they said it couldn't be done)
over a year and no one in WW today will even consider talking about any of
the old plans, nor will they tell you what the plan consisted of.

I came in somewhere after the liver days and this plan was right before the
Fat & Fiber, which was horrible.  After that, Heinz bought the company and
the Points plans started.  I figure that's the other reason no one will talk
about the old pre-Heinz programs in the era of Jean Niditch.

Anyone have any suggestions?  Diana, I can totally agree with your
frustration.
