I always surprise myself when I actually stick to the plan for a while. I
did manage to track all last week, and despite ending the week about 5
points over my weekly target, I still lost weight. On my home scales I went
from 73.5 to 72.7, and according to my official weigh-in on Monday I was
down 0.1 from my December weight (see sig). This morning I'm down to 72.2,
so the loss continues.
Goals for this week are to continue tracking (it's easy to get back into the
habit after a while, but it took about a week to get into the swing of it),
and to end the week at or under my points target. I'm going to try a
different meeting next week to see if I can find a decent leader. Last
week's topic was good (Don't feed your feelings), but the leader left a
little to be desired.
Overall goal is to get down to my elusive personal goal weight and to stay
there for a while! I have determined that my bribe/reward for getting there
will be either a new suit for work or a nice pair of earrings. It'll all
depend on how much cash I've got when I get there :)
And happy Australia Day to all :) It's roast lamb, pavlova and lamingtons

Yes - damper is not what you are when you walk outside in that Seattle
weather :-D Lamingtons are only simple when someone else makes them. The
chocolate icing/coconut combination is apt to get a bit messy at times!!

Not this winter????? Our last ski area threw in the drying towel
yesterday and closed. Seriously lacking in both rain and definitely
snow this winter. Almost scarey. And I just purchased new telemark
skis this week.
I might be tempted to skip the coconut trim. Maybe just a dusting of
cocoa powder - can't get enough chocolate.

It's not a lamington if there isn't any coconut :) Heresy I say!!
You can have some of our rain if you like. We're meant to be in the middle
of a drought down here, with water levels in our dams at an all-time low and
water restrictions everywhere. It's been raining almost non-stop since last
weekend. When it's not raining it's damp, hot and very humid. Typical
Sydney summer :)

Tracking really is the key for me. I don't *think* I need it all the time,
but if I want to lose a bit I certainly know what to do.
Lamingtons are surprisingly low in points because the sponge cake is
fat-free. I counted mine as 2.5 because it was pretty small and wasn't
filled with anything. You can get larger ones that have jam and cream in
the middle of them and they run at about 5.5 points or so. Better than a
slice of mud cake!

This one was interfering with Norton to such an extent that it didn't
recognise it as being a virus. And I would be re-infected every time I
opened a browser window. Sucked really. I think I've got everything up and

It was the about:blank virus I think. It sets your home page to about:blank
(which is what I have mine set to anyway so I didn't notice), and every time
you load that page it re-infects. Spyboy and NAV couldn't get rid of it :(

You have my sympathy. I'm *paranoid* about keeping my anti-virus software
up-to-date and with good reason. Yesterday I got an infected email - the
attachment was a p*rn dialler programme. Thankfully the anti-virus software
recognised it and dealth with it immediately, so no damage done.

Thanks Helen :) I wasn't so paranoid, but now I am! I'm running Spybot now
too as another line of defense. *And* I promise to keep everything up to
date. Thankfully my DBF is highly techie, so did all the re-format and
rebuild - I just had to reinstall all my programs. I don't know what I

Just before Xmas, I had some kind of nasty virus and also had to reformat my
hard drive. The virus had completely disengaged my Norton and wouldn't let
me do a 'live update' to bring my protection up-to-date. On top of that, I
had some kind of malicious spyware running in the background that could not
be eradicated with Spybot, SpySweeper, OR Ad-Aware. Good grief. I spoke
with a guru at work, and he told me that he "scrubs" his hard drive at least
once a year to clear the registry and get rid of all the parasites. Still,
it's all scary stuff.... and definitely worth investing in a cd burner for
backup!

I lost my entire system a couple of months ago - hard disk crashed,
motherboard burned out (BIOS corrupted) and I lost 14 years of data
because my backups had been corrupted!
So, now I have a portable plug-in, USB hard disk that I can back-up on
to, unplug and put away in the cupboard. I also burn CD-ROMs as backups
and I have a USB datastick which I use for vital files that I cannot
afford to lose.
I have three anti-virus systems, including Nortons and AVG, two layers
of fire-wall, three anti-spyware softwares and probably a few other
things knocking around, like a registry editor (not recommended unless
you know what you're doing). Belts-and-braces - you can't be too
careful!

There is no need to "scrub" your hard drive once a year if you are careful
on
the net. DH is a techi (we have our own store - repair shop) and he hasn't
had
to format his drive and reinstall everything for about 3-4 years. It was 2+
years
before we had to do mine and the only reason we did that was my motherboard
had a problem and needed to be sent for warranty, so I got a different one
and
we figured that backing up my drive and reinstalling my software, then
recovering
my backed up data was the best thing to do - to reduce the chances of any
problems in the future.
We've found the biggest culprits for causing problems such as spyware are
teenagers between the ages of about 12 and 20. For instance, last week we
had
a machine in that had 10,000+ spyware applications plus several viruses.

matter how much they've been lectured. One of these days, they'll have this
